HI,
I was thinking of buying the Ultimate scart lead because using my curent scart the DVD's are green so I have to change the scart lead over depending if I'm playing games or DVD's (cause the game graphics are poor in the second scart - no idea why).
After speaking to the guy in the shop he says that the scart does stop the movies being green, but the picture is not as good. To stop this he's suggested using the scart in conjunction with DVD region X. Do I need this or is the picture good enough without the DVD region X as it's another £17.00

Adrian, can you confirm the action replay 2 version 2 does all the functions of Regionx? e.g. eliminates green screen on rgb playback and also allows any region dvds to be played

The scart lead SR sell is RGB but also ccomposite. It has a switch that switches between RGB(Game) and composite(DVD). When playing a game you flick the switch to game and you can clearly notice the picture quality enhancement. Then when you want to watch a region 2 DVD just switch it to DVD mode(composite) and then the DVD plays in colour like it use to on before. To get RGB DVD play back on DVD's you do need Region X or the Action Replay 2 Version 2(Which I have). This gets rid of the green screen, which iam glad about as if I play region 1 DVD's in composite the picture is black and white, RGB gives me full colour. I think that this coupled with Region X is brilliant as you can watch any region for around £30 instead of getting a multi region DVD player. I already have Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy on region 1 DVD and each cost £16.99. Iam also going to get The Fast And The Furious which is released on region 1 at the start of January.

You talking about the scart you get with your PS2? that isnt a full scart lead. Check out the amount of pins on the scart connection. A lot of them are missing. So when you play somhthin lke a Region one DVD you will only get it in black and white.

The Region X config file lives happily beside your updated DVD drivers on the memory card, with no problems - I have one memory card dedicated to holding both, and have had no problems.

The file DVD region x takes up on your memory card is only 10kb, so its hardly nothing at all really. I doubt it would overwrite your updated DVD drivers, but you may need the latest codes from the DVDregionx website.

I got a Ulitmate scart lead and DVD region X.

I only use it to play Region one DVDs. THe ultimate scart lead works in two ways. It has a switch that changes the scart from composite to RGB. So you will never have to keep switching around your Lead. BUt it still doesnt get rid of green screen when using RGB, so you have to use it in conjunction with DVD region x to get rid of green screen.
