"Nintendo GameCube could be dead in 6 months"

With the recent price drops and sales figures, I am sure many of you will be a little astonished at that statement. But it could be that this price drop is the last gasp of life from the GameCube. More people may indeed buy it for a few weeks, but after, sales could return to their previous levels (or worse). There is also the possibility that the price drops themselves could finish the GameCube. Nintendo must be losing a lot of money on each unit sold now. So how long can they afford to keep selling them at this price?

Don't forget Splinter Cell, Hitman 2, Burnout 2, Skies of Arcadia, Ikargu, Red Faction 2 etc...

GameCube is actually the number one selling console in the UK at the moment.

Regardless of who's selling the console at what price, the fact remains, GameCube is flying off the shelves. Not least because one person gets it for £80 and all their mates want one, so are willing to pay £130!

You think Nintendo care what price people sell it at, Nintendo aren't losing the money.

The manager at my place is an XBOX nut... (The Heathen!), and he's designated just 3 bays to GameCube and 5 to XBOX and 5/6 to PS2, so I re-did the GC back-catalogue bay today, and it looks awesome! The others are a bit out of place, but this is mint. We're selling more GameCubes than anything else at the mo.

Plus, with the release of Zelda in under 6 weeks, I think maybe you should have thought up a more believable story!

Yes Nintendo are losing money on Gamecube and the X-box is a damn big money making machine.

It is clear that Updated just makes topics to aggrevate people and then buggers off because he can't argue. Just ignore the fool.

When Nintendo launched with their very low proce they were still loing least per console. Since then the price of the highly expensive special RAM (can't remember the name of it off the top my head... or why it is so different and expensive) has fallen in price drastically, aiding price cuts. There would also traditionally be a cut after the innitial launch period cover dev. costs, just Nintendo started cheap so it seems more drastic.

End of the day, no cosole manufacturer has as thriving a publishing income as Ninty. More GC's equals more publishing income for them.

Remind me how much profit exactly Sony & Microsoft make on each unit sold??
