Hi,
I visit a GAME store in Southport twice a week when I go Rowing. The key is to ask the sales assitant if he can let you play on it, after a while they will just leave the controller in. Apparently people are making it harder to get round due to crowded areas of people who are playing the game or waiting for a go so they unplug the controller to only allow people who are actually interested in buying it to play.

I think some shops unplug the controllers to use the Xbox console as a video demo of games, rather than a playable demo.

All my local stores now use the Xbox to play an Xbox Live promotional video.

What I want to know its whats the point of having a "console booth" but not having the controllers plugged in? Its pointless.

I've lost count of how many times I've been in a games shop, seen a console booth thing with a game I really want to play, rushed over, pushed some kid out of the way, tried to play and released the controller wasn't plugged in.

Like you say, games retailers really should re-think their marketing strategy.
