Like you say, games retailers really should re-think their marketing strategy.

All my local stores now use the Xbox to play an Xbox Live promotional video.
I visit a GAME store in Southport twice a week when I go Rowing. The key is to ask the sales assitant if he can let you play on it, after a while they will just leave the controller in. Apparently people are making it harder to get round due to crowded areas of people who are playing the game or waiting for a go so they unplug the controller to only allow people who are actually interested in buying it to play.
