Seems to be.. both versions of the R9700 can handle AA at high resolutions better and without AA in 1600x res.
Mate of mine got the 9700 Pro the other week (lucky sod) and with the drivers that came with the card, he had problems with newer games crashing now and then, although with the new drivers, everything is perfect.
You gotta’ realise that the drivers that come with a card are 9 times out of 10 going to be out of date, unless you by it on the day of release of course. As then they will be current.
And anyone using a PC for games should know that you should always keep your drivers bang up to date if you want to be playing the latest games.
Finally, it must be said that the nVidia Det drivers are very good and rock solid. I would say in my experience that the latest version of the ATI catalyst drivers as *as* stable as the nVidia drivers. You just gotta’ make sure you get the latest drivers, which you should have as a matter of course anyway.
I have found that The Geforce4 Card seems to be more stable and runs game perfectly without any "noticeable" glitches.
On my Dads PC though, when playing Raven Shield, Splinter Cell, IGI2, etc basically some of the latest games, I noticed a few errors around the edge of the screen, like going fuzzy when getting shot/explosions going off.
It might just be me, but I think the GF4-4200 is better, although £10 more.
I'm not really into going into detail with computer hardware but i still know i will need a knowledge of which components i will need.

No you are not §n][pe®. That statement above is 100%.
Why anyone would buy a GeForce 4 Ti4200, 4400 when they could get a Radeon 9500/9600 is beyond me. the ATI cards are faster and about the same price. While the Ti 4600 does beat the Radeon 9500/9600 in some benchmark test, the moment you flick on the AA or AF, the Radeon leaves the GeForce choking.
WAs i say, for this round of vid cards, ATI holds all the aces.
the 9500 Pro or 9600 Pro for mid range gaming, with the 9700 Pro or 9800 Pro taking the high end crown. And for the record the GeForce FX doesn't even alter this picture - until nVidia get the next GeForce out (nv35?) then ATI own.
Who'd have thought nVidia would have been left standing in one production cycle? although bet on the next nVidia card to be a good one - it'll have to be i guess.
It outperforms the 4200, 4400 and even sometimes the 4600.. and i am not a ATI fanboy.
