My PS2 has just died and I am considering changing to an x-box instead of another PS2. The only thing is I'd really miss playing vice city, so am wondering if it will be coming out on the x-box any time soon (if ever).

Also, any valid reasons why I should (or should not) change would be appreciated (I don't mean rubbish like Ps2's are crap, X-box's are great)

Cheers

In my opinion (I own a PS2, and have played on many Xbox games), the PS2 is by far the better option. Sure, the Xbox is cheaper and much better designed, with the best online service - but to break that down, you've got to pay a lot extra to utilise the DVD player and internet capabilities.

On top of that, for every decent Xbox game, there's at least two excellent PS2 ones. It's safe to say that the Xbox has a more prospective future, but with the excellent back-catalogue of the PS2 and a few upcoming gems such as Tomb Raider: Angel Of Darkness and Jak & Daxter 2, there's more than enough to keep you occupied until PS3.

At the end of the day though.. the best console's the GameCube :D.

my ps2 died by refusing to play dvd's and some of my games. after a hunt on the net I found the symptom - apparently it needs a new laser eye at a cost of 50 quid plus fitting (around £70-80). So rather than fork out that I'll get a new console, thank you very much.

One major downer about the xbox though is the size, its like a suitcase. i like the way you can stand the ps2 up taking up minimal room.

on the plus side theres halo, which i recall spending nearly 12 straight hours playing with a friend.

The Xbox's DVD drive is by far more superior to the PS2's. I know that sounds fanboyish, but its true, for many reasons.

cheers. I would like to get vice city for the PC, but my machine is substandard as it is. i want c&c generals and a few other titles, but it would require upgrading my motherboard, cpu and gfx card.

I suppose I could use what money I have to do this, but I like the convenience a console offers (and reliability!). Plus I want a DVD player to complete my entertainment system.

I've played on several xbox titles and consider it to be about on par or better than the ps2, but the ps2 seems to have better titles (in my view).

Vice city is a classic, and there are a few other ps2 only titles I would miss.

Decisions Decisions ...........

I doubt Vice City will be coming out on the Xbox any time soon. However, you could buy it on the PC soon, and save having to buy another PS2.

As for why to buy an Xbox? Well that's up to you. Are there more games on the PS2 that take your fancy, or the Xbox? Make your own decision, as I don't know what suits you best.

Although you wouldn't realise how great it is not to worry about memory cards ;-)
