Hey up,

Anyone know where i can find hardware reviews for the ps2?
I'm gonna get GTA3 & Mega Memory 16 (havin a ps2 for xmas) and i just want to see what they say about this Mega Memory 16 card...i've heard that saves have been lost with GTA3...but at £17.99 and twice as big as the Sony Memory card, this looks the better deal..just wondering if the thing with lost saves is true..

Thanks

Get an official card!

It does, but only if you load the cd that comes with it before playing the game. If you dont use the cd, then it wont recognise it.

We'll admit the official memory card is pricey, but it offers 8mb - more than enough.

And when it comes to PlayStation peripherals, if it's not Sony, it's not safe. :¬)

Just get an official one. You'll know it works with everything, and it's plenty big enough. I currently have about 25 game saves on mine.

And it wasn't a review - he said he got GTA3 and it told him to insert a memory card when he tried to save, as it didn't recognise the Mega Memory 16 in the port.

If you've got your console, GTA3 and card and it works, then fine - otherwise don't be so quick to dismiss other people's findings.

If you don't have the console yet, how do you know he's wrong?

I think that guys review of the Mega Memory 16MB is wrong.
He says that you NEED a Sony memory card...because the Mega Memory doesnt save...but thats wrong cause you can save a game using the Mega Memory 16....tut tut...poor review due to wrong information...

What Wookiee said: Get official or licenced peripherals for your PS2, the others just give you a headache if they go wrong.

Someone has posted a message here previously stating that GTA3 does not recognise the Mega Memory cart as a memory card, so you will be unable to save your game progress.

Get an official card!

I found out that the Action Replay 2 V2 crunches save files so there really small. But you cant load these up you need to uncrunch them. If you really want tons of space then my advise would be to get a 16mb card as well as the offical 8 mb card. Keep backups of data on the 16mb card and use the crunch technology that gives tons of space. Or maybe just use offical 8 mb cards. They are the best and will never let you down. I have 13 games saved on my memory card and I still have over 5200KB left out of the 8000KB you start with. Some games do take up more than the others but an 8mb memory card will last a long time and is reliable.
