Lol.
That was the best afternoon at Highbury for quite sometime. Even Parlour looked outstanding in the middle of the park!
Shame we could only score when they made blatant c***-ups though. We absolutely dominated the game but still couldn't play our way through a shaky defense without their generous help.
Oh well, seems churlish to complain but myy question is this: Of course Arsenal should have been up for this game, and they responded admirably but is it too much to ask that they show a little spirit for equally big games in the Champions League?
When stam went, the defense collapsed.
The only thing that kept them together at the back was a solid, reliable keeper.
I still think he has excellent ability, but not only giving away valuable points to liverpool, now arsenal too. And of course because they are rivals in the tables, the points sort of cost them double (they lose points, rivals gain points).
Offensively, they team aren't performing as prolificly as earlier in the season, they don't look like they can score enough to make up for defensive lapses any more.
Maybe it's an overreaction, but i don't think united can win anything domestically, let alone in europe, with their current defense, and if barthez doesn't get his act together, he'll need to go too.
Without some major restructuring i think the united era of dominance is over. Alex would have to sort it out before he goes next year, or move to a position where he can have some influence over such matters. I don't think whoever replaces him can do it.
Not winning the premiership isn't too big a worry, it's happened before, but in all those seasons, there have been two outright contenders for the silverwear, and one has always been united.
Does Barthez even learn from his mistakes? He had an amazing match today. He made a lot of top quality saves, but the mistakes he made made them all seem worthless.
I admit, United played poorly today and Arsenal totally played us off the park. But we would have got a point if it wernt for those mistakes.
Can we still win the Premiership? well i'd be living in a dreamland if i said it were a certainty, but it is still possible. BUt we cant afford to lose anymore matches till February i reckon.
I Think ferguson should drop Van Nistelrooy and Veron for a few games. THese two guys are just not performing, and i think Ferguson dont want to drop them becasue of the large amount of money he paid for them. THis in turn makes these players feel as though they dont have to fight for there place in their team which leads to below par performances, like today...
So chelseas next week at OT, hopefully Ferguson has given the lads a good hammering and we should slaughter them...hopefully...
ARSENAL ARSENAL ARSENAL!!!
Hopefully we can keep up this form, we were outstanding.
COME ON YOU REDS!!!
