Only Bolton have beaten us in the premiership at OT.

But we aint looking as strong as we used to at home, but I could put that down to Roy Keane not playing for the last month. Probably sounds like a lame excuse but he is the main man. He is the only man that keeps our defense together as Barthez seems muted compared to Schmeichel.

I dont think Keane is quite back to 100% yet, but within a few games he should be and we will get back to our winning ways.

And i also think that Veron and scholes should be rotated every other game with Cole or Yorke pairing with Van Nistelrooy. But i have suspecsions of Yorke joining Liverpool after Fowlers move to Leeds.

But OT isn't the 'fortress' it's been in recent seasons.

Arsenal have beaten you there a few times, Liverpool beat you there last season, and there's no guarantee that the run of erratic form you're in at the moment won't decay that air of invincibility still further.

Take Arsenal as an example - almost untouchable at Highbury last season - a home game was almost certainly a win for us; now look at us this season - the 3-1 result on Sunday was great for us, but prior to that, we've been very poor.

It is still early, I admit - but at the moment I'd say Leeds or Liverpool for the Championship as they seem much more consistent.

Still, only time will tell.

Still early days, early days.

A lot of football to be played.

I'd have to disagree with the comments No.10 made about Stam.

There were 3 main rocks in our team. A sort of backbone if you like. Schmeichel, Stam and Keane. There were are most important players, sure stam missed a few games but our defense suffered becasue of it. Plus we also had to cover of Johnson back then.

Arsenal gotta come to OT, Liverpool gotta come to OT and we got Chelsea at OT Saturday Morning. A make or break game really. I think Ferguson should drop Veron for this match. Play Scholes and Keane in Midfield with Yorke up alongside Van nistelrooy.

I think there is also a huge amount of pressure on United this season.

It's Fergie's last, and he wanted to go out on a high, winning at least the Prem and the CL. And the team wanted to do that for him.

This has put far more pressure on them than a 'normal' season, and while I wouldn't write them off yet, it does seem that they're not handling it very well.

They made two huge signings in the summer, and - I think - expected to cruise to another Championship with next to no challenge... hence Fergie's 'challenge' at the start of the season for the other teams to "give us a game".

All of this, combined with some very erratic performances from both the two new signings and the rest of the team, is beginning to unravel their season.

So that's the serious side out of the way.

On a lighter note, I have to say... I am enjoying it! :-)

I am getting fed-up with all this talk about how United's defence has fallen apart since Stam left. It is nonsense. Over the past two seasons Stam missed a large number of games through injury - yet the United defence did not suffer. The truth is that Ferguson has unsettled the United team with his constant tinkering of formations. There is a lack of self belief through the team and has resulted in the bizarre 'keystone cop' errors we have seen lately.

Ferguson tinkering is to blame for United plight - not Stams departure. Van Nistleroy is a good signing and will get better and better. Veron seems very inconsistent to me. He made a great start to the season - but has been poor lately. On Sunday Roy Keane was given no assistance from Veron.

The Fergie empire is crumbling. We are seeing the long awaited demise of Man Utd unfold before our very eyes. Footballing fortunes go in cycles. No one team has dominated English football for more than 10/12 years (Liverpool dominated the early 80's, Arsenal the late 80's and early 90's and United have had the last decade). Who is next ?.

Ljundberg's lob over barthez was blatantly disrespectful!
Maybe barthez's later failings were the only thing stopping us all from being in awe of that b****-slap right now!

United were very poor yesterday. No questions. I think the two best players for them were probably Brown, (who didn't put a foot wrong and couldn't be blamed for any of the goals) and Barthez....until about the 70th minute anyway!

The guy is obviously a class keeper, you just have to look at the three or four saves he made to deny Henry, Kanu and Ljundberg. But he keeps making stupid mistakes that let him down.

I do have one point to make about this though:

The last time United had a keeping crisis, was in the 1998-1999 season. There was a certain Peter Schmeichel in goal, who had an appalling start to the season. "He's too old", "he's past it", "Ferguson'll have to bring in a replacement", "he can't keep on" etc. etc. It got to Christmas, Schmeichel went on a run of form that surpassed even his high standards, and United went on to win a certain treble. So next time you think about ruling out United...just wait till they CAN'T win the Premiership!!

I am so glad to see Arsenal back on form. They hadn't been playing that well over the past few weeks, but after seeing them beat Man U like that, I am reassured that Arsenal will certainly put up a good fight for the Premiership crown.

Of course, Liverpool are also doing well, so I am looking forward to the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. Should be a brilliant match.

Parlour had an amaznig game - I think he deserved the Man of the Match award over Vieira, personally - I was wondering at one point how many Parlour's were on the pitch... he was everywhere!

> Shame we could only score when they made blatant c***-ups though.

I think we would have got a second goal - we were just so superior. But thanks to Barthez, we'll never know! Anyway, as they say, it doesn't matter *how* you score, just as long as you do.

I agree. They have been very poor for too long now. Let's hope this result kick-starts the season, and that we can demolish Juve with the same style in a couple of weeks time.

Granted Man U were poor yesterday, but I think that was due in no small part to us not letting them get a look-in. They were barely out of their box 2nd half, let alone their half of the pitch.
