Scaremongers have been going mad since the failure of the Dreamcast and many have wondered will the Gamecube suffer the same fate as it's SEGA rival? Worries have excelled after the Japanese sales. Many insist it was disastrous sales although they were in fact fine it was still worrying.

No ques, few sales in fact the Gamecube in Japan looked a bit disappointing and us Nintendo fans offered 3 reasons:

1. There were only 3 games at launch.
2. The disaster in America took attention away from the Gamecube.
3. There is an economic slump in the land of the rising sun at the moment.

So those Japanese results were a little unreliable. The Gamecube’s success will all depend on November 18th the Gamecube launch in America. Worries already started Nintendo's advertisement campaign started a little late in the day but it was a good one with cube clubs and massive Dr Pepper promotions and of course those cool adverts, "You've got one night to save Mario", classic.

X-box though was released 3 days before the Gamecube again another worry will the X-box steal any sales from Nintendo's machine?

Get ready for the facts Blitz!

Nintendo being the cheats that they are in fact started selling a few Gamecube’s before the 18th. Well it sold, getting up early to join ques of many waiting for their Gamecube, getting up late to find shelves bare with only a few accessories and games left. And not even Nintendo could anticipate its shocking success.

Gamecube outsold Harry Potter, which was also released at the same time, Nintendo pulled in an amazing $98 million that should tie them over. Nintendo also shipped 700,000 consoles to the land of opportunities and guess what 700,000 consoles were sold ALL OF THEM!

Nintendo delighted after such sales will increase the amount of Gamecube’s shipped this year by 200,000 so it’s forecasted sales of 1.1 million has increased to 1.3 million!

These incredible sales could have worrying implications for us Europeans and although the console is still sue around April that could still change.

We will have to wait and those scaremongers will have to keep quite for now at least.

Yeah, I think Xbox shipped 500,000 units MAX, and sold all of em (is that right?) while GC shipped 700,000 consoles, and sold all.

But can anyone inform me of what games were available on Xbox launch?

Anyhow, I doubt Ninty will push the date back further than April or they WILL have problems with Xbox in Europe.

if X-box sold all there then Gamecube still smashed it as X-box only had between 300,000-400,000 whilst GC had 700,000

The X-Box sold 400,000 units in its first 8 mins!

The Gamecube sold 700,000 units in its first 4 mins!

Well that's internet sales anyhow!

They are very similar, i think Gamecube had slightly higher sales than X-box, but the X-box is expected to overtake the Gamecube by christmas.
