I am looking to connect my Xbox up to my PC and after reading the instructions from xbox.com I am not entirely sure of what I need to do. I do not want to purchase a router as I don't have the funds avaialable and I don't mind having my PC turned on whilst playing LIVE. The other option (only other option) was the ICS Windows connection. I haven't purchased LIVE yet but will be very soon but after following the instructions I don't know where to start. I went to Control Panel and add new hardware and then tried to search for what they said I would need yet it isn't there. I have the BT Voyager USB (ADSL Modem) and want the cheapest and easiest way to connect my PC to my Xbox. Is there anyone that can help? Thankyou.

According to Microsoft it's "easy!"

1-Buy starter pack
2-Connect
3-Create Gamertag-Play Live.

But to pretty much everyone there about 20 other mini points under the connect section, along with alot of head scratching.

Thanks Tilta but I think that the Xbox setup is more complicated. I have been reading up on it and I think I will stick with the Network card and Ethernet Crossover cable connection to get Live up and running. Thanks for the advise though.

If it's anything like the Gamecube setup then I found that you don't need a network card, all you need to do is take the wire out that connects the modem to the PC and shove the Xbox ethernet cable in the modem. Then turn the modem off at the mains and turn back on and voila, it should work perfectly saving you £25.

Oh and you do the same when you want to link the PC back, just vice-versa.

Oh and another thing, you shouldn't need all the info about your DNS number and IP address unless your ISP gave them to you when you they setup your account. You'll find there's an option to search for IP address so just go for that, much easier than putting in all those gay numbers.

Please note this is from my experience with the Gamecube modem but I'm pretty sure it'll be along the same lines with Xbox live.

You don't get any cat 5 with the Xbox Live kit, so you'll need to get some of that (crossover if you're going straight from PC to Xbox)

Bloomin' Microsoft.

Nah you don't need to take your computer down, just anti static yourself, open up your PC and shove the network card in a free PCI slot.

Oh and whilst your there, you need to pick up a Cat 5 Ethernet cable (that connects your network card to your Xbox) they aint that much either, probs around £2 - £5.

Wait, before you do that, Whos got an Xbox Live Starter Kit? I'm not sure if you get an ethernet cable with that....

Thanks for the help that is what I was looking for. When I clicked on details for Internet Tools it brought up an error saying "You Network Configeration is not complete, please install the Network Hardware before continuing". Sorry to be a big problem but where do I go from here?

:)

Thanks!
