Don't get me wrong, I like them, and I don't watch them to complete some sort of moral journey. They are a fun film, with explosions and Bond getting the woman and generally being suave.
But I still prefer the earlier ones, my favourite is Live and Let Die. One of the reasons for this is that the bad guys are actually bad guys. The bloke that is in the coffin with all the snakes, he's scary. And you can tell he's bad, straight away.
In T.W.I.N.E, Robert Carlyle (sp?) isn't scary, end of story. You don't looke at him and immediately think "Oh, bad guy alert." You look at him and think "Look, it's that bloke from Trainspotting, and the Full Monty."
I think he's a great actor, and at the end of the day, he's just doing what the director wants him to, but it just doesn't seem to work - in my opinion.
I also rate Robbie Coltrane and Pierce Brosnan as actors, so it's not as if they had a shabby cast. Coltrane was particularly good actually, and Brosnan gave his usual high performance as Bond.
As I said, I know Bond films are all about fun, and him doing blatantly unrealistic things, but they seem to have forgotten all the things that made the early films so great, and just concentrated on the special effects and the gadgets.
Here's hoping the next one has a bit more substance.
dead scientist,
man with third nipple,
big sun powered weapon
and a prerequisite girl in a bikini.
(almost forgot nik nak)
"I only need one shot Mr. Bond!"
*Bang*
"Oh crap I missed"
*Bang*
"AARRGGHH!!!"
Mind you, how the hell can you make a film about a man who has a gun made from a pen, cigarette case and something else?
Called him "The Scottish Milkman that ruined my books"
I saw Connery as Bond in the first film I saw, so I thought he was the best.
If I had seen Moore as Bond, I may have thought he was the best.
Anyway, Live and Let Die is my favourite Bond film, it's just so damn good, from the Jazz Players walking down the street at the beginning, right until the very end when, er (can't really remember) Bond kills the bad guy.
That reminds me, is it me or was the fight scene at the end of T.W.I.N.E really pathetic?
My gran could have fought better than those two!
Maybe because he was Bond when I was growing up?
And nobody else can wear a safari suit quite like Roger Moore.
Robin Williams doesn't look anything like Bond.
Robbie dressed up as Bond for his Millennium video.
Just because he's known as a singer it doesn't mea he can't be in films.
Look at Madonna, for instance.
Live and Let Die is one of my favourite Bond films.
It has been said (not by me) that Sean Connery was the better Bond, but Moore had the better films, would you agree with this?
The croc farm, Solitaire, the bus chase, Mr Big saying "Take this honky out back and waste him", Baron Samedi.
Man with The Golden Gun:
The twisty bridge jump, Christopher Lee, extra nipples, midget henchman named Nick-Nack, Ms Goodnight, the Kung-Fu throwdown.
These are my two favourites.
Anyway, I rate Goldeneye as one of the best
> films, and Sean Bean makes a great bad guy. He's evilly sardonic, and he is

Damn straight. Goldeneye is the best Bond film. Although You Only Live Twice was really good as well. But Blofeld or whatever was nothing on Sean Bean.
I actually thought The World is Not Enough was quite good although Robert Carlyle was, as you say, a very poor choice for a vilain.
Tomorrow Never Dies was awful though. At least Carlyle wasn't as bad as Jonothan Pryce. He has got to be the worst Bond vilain of all time. He is just so unmenacing. I just think of him in Glengarry Glenross whenever I see him now.
