Dad's washing car out in quiet street

" Dad can I practice my clutch control in the car? "

" You're not insured "

" I know but I'll only be moving a few metres back and forward "

" Aye alright then "

I do okay at clutch control

" Want to turn up the next street "

" Sure? "

" Yeah "

---

Disaster strikes... kids kicking football on next street, car comes flying towards me... I'm going up hill and don't give enough gas... panic and stall the car for the first time ever.

Then I can't turn the key... it won't turn on... then I can't find reverse because I've never driven in the new car before.

Argh horrible.

" Right for god sake.. start it up... right I'm taking over "

" Sorry dad "

And now my driving confidence is in ruins

I had a slight problem with 1st gear on my test. My instructor was quite...how shall I put it...large, and I kept brushing her leg whilst putting it into gear. I think she thought I liked her.

My other one was for observation during the parallel park, i was using my rear view mirror instead of turning around to check for myself.

I got 1 for my observation on the turn in the road. The rest were for indicating and then looking in my mirror...bah!

It would have been 1 if i hadnt gone into autopilot during the test and indicated to go up a street that i assumed he was going to go up. But he didnt use that street, so i got a minor.

I really wanted to pass 1st time, mainly because of the stick I would have gotten off of my sister if I didn't. She passed 1st with 9 minors; the first thing she said was "you beat me by 4!" So I passed 1st time, yay!

2 minors, that’s pretty darn impressive.

After failing my first test my confidence was shattered big time. I was about to pull out in front of a car at a junction (a bread lorry parked on the pavement blocked my view) and the tester intervened. Dangerous fault, instant fail.

6 Weeks later without anymore lessons, i re-sat my test in my own car and passed with 2 minor faults.

Whilst learning, I went out a total of 2 times to practice with my dad. At one point I tried to go round a mini roundabout properly, but with this one it is impossible. I was driving this car for the first time, had no power steering whereas my learner car did have. My dad (who is instantly good at anything like driving) was my co-pilot; he didn’t scream at me, he was really quite good about it. So after a little reversing on the roundabout I was on my way again, only made 1 car stop and wait.

That is the only embarrassing thing to have happened to me, oh, apart from pulling out in front of another car at some traffic lights, on my mock test, dangerous fault, instant fail :D

I later found out that the lights had changed since my last lesson, so now traffic came from more then one place at a time.

2 lessons later I took my test for real and passed with 5 minor faults.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
