BBC report on E3 Nintendo performance

"Nintendo's conference was like a retirement home for classic game developers as Toru Iwatani, the brains behind Pac-Man, played on-stage against Mario wunderkind, Shigeru Miyamoto, who is currently working on an all-new Pac-Man title.

Refreshingly self-critical, the assembled masses were told of the mistakes the big N made with marketing the GameCube, and the difficulty the traditionally family-orientated company was having in appealing to modern, gore-obsessed players.

But their president, Satoru Iwata, in a nod to the Grand Theft Auto series, assured Nintendo-philes: "You won't see Mario shoot a hooker".

And while we were assured the GameCube had a rosy future, its successor is already officially in development."

*chuckles*

It was rather good, but to obvious.

"It's bad that Nintendo are talking about the next console so quickly"

"Actually they were the last"

"err..um..It's bad that Nintendo are the last to talk about the next console"

My mate's all came round to my house today and we had some excellent fun playing Burnout 2, Conflict: Desert Storm and Super Monkey Ball 2.

They're all PS2 owners, and they all prefer the two multi-format games on the GameCube. And SMB2 is "genius", also.

:-)

That's a nice manipulation.
I give it 14.7/12

Yes, it was official.

All three announcments were official.

You were wrong okay, just accept it, don't try and turn it into something different.

I really don't think that the GameCube will end it's career anytime soon.

Two people I know, XBox and PS2 owners who've said that they hated the GameCube since it came, recently played it and have fallen in love with it. Especially Super Monkey Ball 2. Their words, not mine.

Yeah, but officially? Come on.

Only because they're the perennial latecomer, last yet again to enter the race. I think when Nintendo's president starts saying stuff isn't exactly going to plan, you have to start listening.

You appear to not have realised I was mocking your 'I'm better than you' attitude.

Some Ovid at the moment.
The Metamorphoses to be exact.
And I have just been doing Ars Amatoria:
"copia iudicium saepe morata meum est"

This seems fitting to this situation:
"ille locus casti damna pudoris habet"

Actually the PS3 was announced before the PS2 was released, and an 'XBox2' was announced straight away after the release of the XBox.

Nintendo were the last to announce another console.
