My brother bought me an unofficial remote last christmas. I`ve never had a problem with it, and have never before considered upgrading to the official remote. The idea of a couple of extra functions really didn`t interest me - I`ve never watched a movie in fast wind or anything anyway.

However, I have heard rumours that it may solve the lip sync problems. I have a fairly good solution (the one brought to our attention by Wookiee Monster), which uses the diagnosis mode. However, it doesn`t always work 100%, and I also usually forget to put the thing on anyway.

So, I wanted to ask if anybody here has the official remote, and if so has it solved your lip sync problems? If it does solve lip sync problems, then I may consider buying the remote.

I have the official remote, and its solved my lip sync probs, but the thing is that i never really had any probs, nut apparently certain films have problems with the old drivers like fight club, the new ones cure the problems

I`m really looking for a more concrete piece of evidence before I jump into it, but thanks for the info anyway!

perhaps the reason i didn't notice it was coz i had not watched many before getting the official remote but now i have the drivers r installed so i can't notice with either remote (not that i use the unnofial on)

SSX Pro you got your PS2 on launch didnt you. Well I know that the offical DVD remote gives you the new updated DVD drivers from the PS2s that are on sale now. So these new drivers are likely to solve the problem.

When the lip sync goes wrong, you tend to hear the voice, and then see the mouths of the actors move. This is very slight, but sadly human eyes are very good at detecting that kind of thing.
