"Official Remote - Giving it some lip."

My brother bought me an unofficial remote last christmas. I`ve never had a problem with it, and have never before considered upgrading to the official remote. The idea of a couple of extra functions really didn`t interest me - I`ve never watched a movie in fast wind or anything anyway.

However, I have heard rumours that it may solve the lip sync problems. I have a fairly good solution (the one brought to our attention by Wookiee Monster), which uses the diagnosis mode. However, it doesn`t always work 100%, and I also usually forget to put the thing on anyway.

So, I wanted to ask if anybody here has the official remote, and if so has it solved your lip sync problems? If it does solve lip sync problems, then I may consider buying the remote.

Here beanz your starting to get a bit stalkerish. A few weeks ago you were asking where I worked, what I did, what my wife thought of me and you even were saying that you could see me in the office (ooh er!) Now you want to know what I look like, the next thing you will want is a signed pair of unwashed pants(trust me you dont)

Anyway I`m six foot eight, 18 stones, wrestle bears at the weekend and have blond hair and blue eyes and am a Libra (oops wrong message board)

Either that or I`m six foot, 14 stone with a rather fetching beer belly

Now leave me alone and stop phoning me in the middle of the night as my wife is getting suspicious........

anyway my joytech dvd remote given free has already broken after 1 use....dunno why..

I got the Joytech one free from SR and it did OK. However I now have the Official remote and am far happier with it.

The main reasons are

1. I`m a fat bloater with big fingers and the Joytech one was too small for me
2. The IR control for the official remote can go in port 2 of the console - the Joytech one went in port 1 with the controller linked through it which meant you had to hit a button on the remote to turn the controller on each time the console was switched on. I ended up pulling the IR receiver out and only using it when I was watching a DVD
3. You get updated drivers and it adds a few additional functions
4. I like big remotes with loads of buttons I will never use!

This probably wont help much but if its opinions your after heres mine

SSX Pro go to the review section for the DVD remote. Tellah clearly says in his review(Middle one) that he had problems with lip-sync. And the remote sorted it out.

Thanks for all your help, but I`m still undecided, as I haven`t had anyone say:

"I had lip sync problems until I got the remote, then it was fine".

Ah well.

The diagnosis mode actually causes some discs to skip. I haven't had any problems with the lip sync since i got the new driver so I guess it does fix it. It's wasn't a big problem anyway but it's no problem now :-)

The offical remote is worth getting ;-)

I have the official remote and use the new drivers, but I'd never experienced any lip-sync problems anyway, so... I'm not really being much help, am I?

I have never had a problem with the lip-sync, never, and i have a unofficial remote i bought in France for £6, good deal.

If that was to fix it i dont know as never having the problem.
