It's about a new handheld console called "GP32".
A Korean firm called GamePark, and Matsushita (a Nintendo partner interestingly enough) are making it.
Like the GBA, the machine will be 32-bit. Sporting a 32-bit RISC CPU, a color LCD screen, 8MB of SDRAM, and 8MB of ROM, the machine is definitely looking to impress. The system's screen will feature a 320x240 resolution (slightly sharper than the GBA's), and claims of a ten-hour battery life using only two AA batteries.
One advantage this console has over the GBA is that the company plans to make the machine Open Source. What this means is that people will be able to make their own games and software for the machine. I think this will help make the machine very popular. There's loads of people out there that like to tinker about with programming consoles, and making software, and I think this conosle is gonna appeal to them.
What do other people think of this new console?
:)

When did Sony release one? ... Not recently? ...
I read they were still in the planning stange earlier on this year..
Although... surely no competition is a bad thing?

X-box is releasing one Sony did release one, every piece of competition the GBA gets it gets CRUSHED!
That's what appeared just now...
Although, I dont think this new handheld is going to make any real impact in the handheld market...

Although, with so many great titles already avalible... and with loads of potential still left in the beast, I suspect the GBA will do fine?
But I do think there's a chance that this console will do quite well. Mainly in Japan! With the ability to make your own games for it, {legally}, it should become reasonble popular with people who have an interest in making games. The reason I say {legally} is because you can by devices that let you connect your GBA to a PC, and you could create a game using some software downloaded off the net, and then put it on a GBA smart card.
Oh well, don't worry people the GBA is here to stay for quite a while longer. I'm gonna be getting myself one soon!
:)
Look at all those GB rivals.
where are they now?
Who knows, who cares.
over the years many companies have tried to beat the GB but they have all failed. People trust the GB because it has been around for so long. A new contender and they would tihnk oh somthing new. Well i know BGs are good so ill get one.
So there'll be 2 new ones on the market.
