[Captain's Log: 10/03/04 - Day of the Edit Post Feature]
[Diary Entry: 7/7/05 - "We shall never forget"]
Another thing that could be new in a sequel would be the ice civilisation, seeing as there was no trace of them left.
Maybe they moved some where in deep sky, they could even be fighting a losing battle against the civilisation of the black moon, as Rhaknam was lost but the Gigas of the black moon is still intact.
There's still a load of possibilities.
I reckon it'd market itself quite well, too - with the way so many seem to take in interest in expressing their ideas as to how we may evolve in the future and such... (just look at films like The Matrix Trilogy and A.I.)
It could be during the transition to when we left the ground for the skies; perhaps, explaining why and how Vyse and co. live air-borne in such sea-like boats...?
I don't know but would it be cool to fly around in advanced magical crafts instead of air ships?
"I remember Ramirez drawing on 'the power of the dark moon' in his silver eclipse move too..."
-----
Heh. Reminds me of the first time you come face-to-face with him, and you have the chance to take him on in battle, when, quite clearly - as you are advised - you should simply walk-away and let the inevitible happen...
Foolish, courageous Vyse! Thought he and Aika and co. could take on the sword-swinging weirdo, against Fina's better wishes - oh, how I was wrong! :D
That special move where he 'draws on the power of the Dark Moon', though - and the music that shadowed the whole battle... It really gave me the creeps - even more so than the Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time, where I simply RAN through as much of that as I could! ;D
A remake like that could be good.
Or maybe set it a few years down the line, with new characters.
They could use a similar world map, but update the ground-based bit, new enemies and ships, reshuffle things with the rifts so that everything is divided up differently...
Must.. stop.. myself wanting Skies 2! :^(
Skies is the best game ever, but a sequel probably wouldn't be so part of me doesn't want it to happen. To stand any chance they'd have to find some way of bring Ramirez back too.
I'd prefer a massive remake of it for the N5, I'm talking bigger than the RE one for the GC. Spanky graphics, more areas, bigger world, more in depth subplots, and the could extend the storyline - splicing totally new segments into the existing one, and taking it further than the current 'ending'.

The black moon stone could be used as a basis of a sequel.. it's regularly discussed on the forums of Skies World http://www.planetdreamcast.com/soaworld/ where it's like the usual thing people assume will be in the sequel. Could the Dark Rift be where a black moon crashed into the planet? What would the Black moonstone's properties be? It doesn't really matter as there'll never be a sequel, but it's fun to theorise.

Heh, I'd forgotten about that :^)
There were one or two other references to it too, if I'm not mistaken. (Mentioned in passing, around discoveries and stuff).
I spend ages looking for a black stone I could use with my weapons. It was almost as bad as the damn in Goldeneye (I will get there!) :^(
