Thought I'd start this subject to see how people are getting on with GTA3 :-) Cause theres so much freedom in the game I've been wondering if anyone has pulled off any impressive ways of doing certain missions or had things cool that have happened while being chased around by the law.
I won't use the characters names and spoil the story for anyone who is looking forward to the game, but I think one of my best moments has to be the assassination outside the strip club in portland ;-) Had to avoid being seen by the guys bodyguards so i hid round the corner with grenade in hand. Of course timing was everything, the limo pulled up and the bodyguards started walking out and standing between the club entrance and the car. Dunno if its just me but i got a real adrenalin rush from it, the guards were heavily armed so screwing up would have ended with me wasted ;-)) Then out came my target, i waited right till he was half in the car then i flew out from round the corner and lobbed a grenade which killed half the guards and damaged the car, by this time other cars were all packed in the street, i threw another grenade which blew up 2 cars and set off a chain reaction of exploding cars which took the last of the guards, the limo and target and a bunch of civilians with it ! I then grabbed myself a taxi and got away ;-))
Another moment was during a chase in staunton island, I had police chasing me in a sports car, i turned into an area (right near the first employer you get in this area) where there were crates and stuff - and a nice inviting ramp for a jump ;-) I took the jump with the police car close behind - when it went to the outside view you could actually see the cop car right behind me :-) as soon as i landed i slammed on the brakes and just avoided going straight into the water, as i did this the police car, going fall speed has started to land on the rear of my car, gone straight over me and off the edge into the water ;-)) Got a nice cash boost for that !
Last one that comes to mind has to be the jump off the multi-storey car park ;-)

A crash that springs to mind for me was when I was blocking the road up with cars. A nice crowd of people caught my eye so i decided to go and make friends by introducing them all to my AK47. While laughing insanely and mowing them down, i managed to slaughter 2 cops, so my wanted rating went up pretty damn fast. I quickly grabbed a car and started making my way off, as I approached the turning off the road, a police car swung round it and slammed into me, sending me spinning back. I quickly swung my car round to go the other way, I wasn't in the best car you'll ever find. As i got going again, the cops started ramming me and one slammed into the back of me which pushed me up the now packed road full of cars due to my little blocking earlier.
The car in front of me ended up acting as a ramp and with the speed i'd been rammed to, I flew into the air, the car rolled upside down and landed smack, bang in the middle of the mass of cars. Knowing what was about to happen I squirmed out of the car and started running and jumping up the other cars for dear life and then of course my car exploded. It was like a scene from a film where the hero runs with the mass explosion closely follows him. It must have destroyed like 10 cars and ended up taking out another 5 police cars along with god knows how many civilians and on foot cops ;-))

There's a broken bridge, with a twist on the end, up in the hills, which faces out over the river. Hit it right, and at speed, and you can recreate the famous jump from the Bond movie! Awesome!

Another funny story.
One Day i was driving along in my new "not" stolen Mafia car, and i cam across the docks, so instinctively i drove in and statyed to explore. Almost instantly i came across some sort of ramp and i thought INSANE STUNT BONUS, BABY YEAH!!! so i drove back up against the wall as far back as i could. Then i put my foot down, and headed full speed towards the ramp. I hit the ramp and i began to fly, it all seemed to be going so well until i landed that is.
I didn't notice the Ocean drawing closer, so i kept my foot on the pedal. Suddenly i drove into this tiny wall which made me take flight into the ocean. I thought all was lost, it seemed all to obvious, but still i tried to escape my car. To my shock when i hit the ocean my car was turned over and i was standing on top of it. In my mind i wasa thinking, "i'm safe, hahaha i don't believe it i survived" but i was stuck on this car because if i stepped off i would drown and then i remembered when the car is turned upside down it explodes and thats exactly what it did.
Moments after the car landed in the water, it exploded with aggression. I was launched at least 20 foot into the air and then seconds later i landed back in the water a burning corpse.

Anyway, its been great reading these stories, its funny cause when you've played the game, you can picture the stories in your head ;-)) Anyone been nicking coaches ? Those are beautiful for bouncing cars around :-) Not to mention great to block most of the road up causing traffic to build, along with the temptation of throwing that little grenade in your hand right into the middle of the pile up ;-))
Anyone been taking hookers back to their hideout ? ;-)) Couldn't help laughing seeing the car suspension being cained to the sound of opera music ;-)) Anyone driven through the windows of the internet cafe in staunton island ? makes for a nice battle field area to fight the cops. Run up the stairs once inside, fire your guns through the top window and lob grenades out at them ;-))

What your worst crash on this game, mine happend to day and it went a little something like this......
One day i was driving happily in my stolen taxi, picking people up and earn some dough, when i took this turnig i noticed this beautiful car parked up in some empty space. This was a nice car too, believe. First of all i ignored it until i drove jut a little passed then i was overcome with temptation so i backed up my taxi jumped out and ran over to this beautiful car. I looked around cautiously before breaking the lock and jumping in.
The cars alarm sounded but i ignored it, this car was too beautiful to leave now. Then my journey started i revved up the engine and then i was off speeding down the streets driving carelessly and "accidentally!" hehehe, running innocent people other. I thought i could never be stopped I was being stalked by a helicopter and a dozen squad cars, but i didn't care i was on top of the world. But then the unexpected happend, i took my eye of the road for one minute right at a corner next to the sea, and my life would soon come to an end. I deperately tried to stop and turn but I drove straight into this small wall; my car flew other it, it turned upside down and land on the floor, then i started rolling, i couldn't escape and i was heading straight towards the ocean. At one time my car started to slow down and i was desperately trying to get out but there was no chance of that happening i was doomed. The ocean drew near my car kept rolling, the dammage on it was hurrendous.
My car rolled into the ocean and i thought i would be stuck in it but to my disbelief i was out, i tryed walking to the shore but nothing. I tried again but nothing, then I started to drown my entire life flashed before my eyes and before i knew it i was dead.

Tanks are by far the best vehicles in the game. I got aremd up to the teeth with an M16, Rocket Launcher and Molotoves etc and just went ape outside my hideout in Staunton Island. An M16 bullet to the back of their heads makes their blood fly everywhere- it's great! Well back to the tank. After I shot down a few police helicopters I got the army to come. Once I was in a tank I flew down to Portland bridge and had a massive destruction Derby with -I kid you not- about 6 tanks! I kept on shooting them but they don't blow up. I only died because a "filthy Diablo" pulled me out. So I put a grenade in his trousers. Who's laughing now hey?
