Naturally the Resident Evil series is a major money grabbing series, yet with the fourth encounter planning on being the ultimate Resident Evil game and Shinji Mikami not seeing a future past this game begs the funademental question... could this be the end?

Resident Evil 4 does look incredible, it promises loads and with rumours of Wesker and Chris related mishaps it could finally put a close to the Resident Evil storyline... especially with one of the main characters set to bow out. The game with the new ghost esq. baddie looks damnable scary and it begs the question whats next?

Naturally Capcom need the series but it is hardly neccessary to keep the main adventure. 6 incredible games would make up the legacy and with Dead Aim and the online series just starting up, games revenue would still continue. A second movie is still in the works and that also provides more revenue. It is no surprise that Capcom are willing to stick the series on the Gamecube, yet when the sixth game is done we may have had enough. The once chart topping game isn't reaching that status anymore and although a lot is being said about the fourth game not much about the future.

I personally think we should be seeing the final Resident Evil encounter some time next year... do you have any thoughts on the matter?

Barry, Chris, Claire, Jill and Leon are part of an anti-Umbrella group as shown in Resident Evil: Gaiden...

Rebecca maybe in there too. (probably)... so it is possible these characters may appear along side Leon... Chris and Claire have sorted out many affairs in CV, Jill has halted Nemesis and the umbrella plans in Raccoon city... and Barry is helping where he can.

I'd expect this game to centre around Leon and feature the three way fight between Weskars group, Umbrella and of course the anti-umbrella team made up of the remaining STARS members.

Not that unlikely.

The Resi series is only getting warmed up.

I expect to see a lot more games in the future. I'm still getting over how amazing the Resi 4 footage looks.

Then it wouldn't be unique would it?! Eternal Darkness controls are very good but thats Eternal Darkness and not Reisdent Evil. Too many people complain about the controls and characters movement in Resident Evil games yet its what makes them as good as they are. Getting yourself out of tight situations (striktly related to this topic ;) is all the more satisfying and it workd perfectly with the Resident Evil atmosphere. If they take that away from Resident Evil then they might as well take the lid of my GameCube. It just wouldn't work without it.

Thats rubbish man, there were analogue controls on RE2 on the N64 and it was just as good, if not better. The crapness of turning on the spot doesnt fuel the fear, it fuels the frustration.

Thinking about it, ED-style controls probably wouldn't work with a static camera - you'd have to change direction every time the viewpoint changed, just to keep going in a straight line.
With Resi's controls up is forward wherever the camera is.

It's just a shame that it's awkward and frustrating.

Did all the Resis use the static-camera system?

Yes.

But from Resi 4 onwards it's all fully 3D.
