Your reputation proceeds you Mr Playstation2.

"The sequel station" is a name I've often heard given to the Playstation2, but is this a bad thing, and does it indeed deserve it?

Let's look at SRs top ten games:

GRAND THEFT AUTO 3
TIME CRISIS 2 + OFFICIAL G-CON 2 LIGHT GUN
RESIDENT EVIL: CODE VERONICA X
THIS IS FOOTBALL 2002
GRAN TURISMO 3 A-SPEC
RED FACTION
WWF SMACKDOWN 3 JUST BRING IT!
SPY HUNTER
DAVE MIRRA FREESTYLE BMX 2
PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER

Oh dear, it's not looking good, it it? 8 of those are sequels, and one of the others is a re-hash of an old arcade game, so that leaves 1 wholly original game.

But let's look at the list more closely:

Grand Theft Auto 3:- Huge developmnt on previous games in the series, the game is much more open, and there's a whole host of extra mischief you can get yourself into!

Time Crisis 2:- I don't know a great deal about this one, but hey, it comes with a gun! Does a PSX gun work with the PS2? Was there a PSX gun? I don't even remember anymore!

RE: Code Veronica:- Not only is it a sequel, but also a port from the Dreamcast. That said the PSX RE games couldn't touch CV, so it's about time that Sony fans got to play it!

This Is Football 2002:- It's a football game, they all get an annual update!

Gran Turismo 3:- How much does this move the series on from GT2? Not really a great deal, it's just been given a huge graphical face-lift (and a very pretty one it is too). Then again it was never intended to be a sequel liek this, merely a PS2 update of GT2, that's why it was going to be called GT2000.

Red Faction:- To my knowledge this is an original. (There was no Amber Faction, was there?)

WWF Smackdown 3:- Every console is guilty of having a host of wrestling games, we can't cruxify the PS2 becasue of it, especially as it's been out a year, and this is the first one. Like football, it has to be updated, to keep all of the latest 'stars' in there.

Spy Hunter:- I haven't seen any shots of this game, but anything other than a top down, 2D car, avoiding patches of oil will shock me!

Dave Mirra BMX 2:- Extreme sports games are all the range, we're already waiting for Tony Hawks 3, do they offer much new? Well a little, and if you like that type of game, whats the harm in buying them?

Pro Evolution Soccer:- Again, it's football, it likes to come out annually. Besides is this the first ISS for the PS2?

So yes, there are a few sequels there, but they are sequels of games that appeared on the PSX. These sequels are real developments on what went before, especially now that developers are beginning to get the best from the PS2.

And when games sell so well, and are obviously popular, it's more often than not that the fans WANT a sequel.

I've nothing against sequels, and when Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final Fantasy 10 come out it won't mean they're any less special, in fact, Konami and Square have put even more into these games to please fans of the series, and to make sure that the continuing saga is one to look forward too.

Ever think about checking the official top 10 games sold all over the country?

And yes, my whole point includes that though they're

Thats fine then, but the way you put that across was not good, and the title of the topic is very miss leading.

Ha! You keep getting funnier! They are the top 10 games sold (including pre-orders) by Special Reserve.

So the top ten games at this moment in time, sold by SR, the people that use this site, in other words.

And yes, my whole point includes that though they're sequels, it's in name only, the games have moved on leaps and bounds!
