On a slightly different note, I have a magpie that cleans the guttering above my window...

It's not like anyone else has a use for them....

But I said starlings, not birds. Anyway, I just did it for the reaction, being a big showboater and all. The complete sentence should have read:

"There was a juvenile starling on the bag of nuts hanging outside my window to feed the birds the other day, and it scared all the others off".

Massive thing is was too. Mostly brown, with a small patch of the normal starling appearance. Long black beak, so it could get at the nuts without ripping the sack (hur hur again, if you want, but I was glad).

Also had a couple of goldfinches hovering round the other day. Didn't even look at the nuts or the nest though.

I like sparrows.

I like Starlings more though. They have that rainbow sheen when the sun hits them.

Well a sparrow keeps looking round the nesting box outside my window. With a bit of luck there'll be little sparrows living there soon.
