Do you realise only 5% of games make a profit, i know i had to read it twice as well to take it all in. Think of all the companys who make games and then see them make a loss. Why because some of us copy games well quite a few of us actually and it isnt doing the companys any good. I hear you say but i cant spend £30 a game its just two exspensive well i know where you are coming from. Is there a solotion to all this well icant think of one if you can post it and let everyone see it!!

5% of games make a profit, i seriously doubt that ;-)
it could be that all the games make a profit= 5% but then the 95% (army men games) dont make a profit do-you-see?

Hmmm let me think about this one long and hard for just a few moments. A game company starts up, it costs a loads and loads of dosh to set it up and get all of the equipment. They have heard of games like Half-Life selling over a million and want to try their luck, so they make a game that gets 82% by every magazine, but the game doesn't sell to well. This company goes bust along with the other 95% of games desinger companies around.

I don't think so mate. I think you should check your resources once more, as it's like setting up a food chain store right next to McDonalds if that is what the computer game industry is like. No one would stand a chance and would be crushed by the competetors.

Well, it doesn't seem that far from the truth as

www.slashdot.org has told me.

Computer game developers work in an industry where 90% of the profit is made from 10% of the products. Or to put it another way, 90% of the products simply die in the marketplace. Sometimes this is because the products themselves are dreck; There certainly is a lot of poorly designed, poorly debugged, formulaic, or simply content free products out there.

That seems intresting and that was wrote by a computer games designer.

On average, only 5% of games made actually are bought by anyone.

Also, a rare coincidence, only 5% of games are even heard of, and 5% of games are advertised.

Come on now, who ever bought Hubbie?
