You can get Alexander materia there (he rules, by the by) but I can't remember how exactly. And after you're out of the snow there's a button-bashing bit where you've got to keep your temperature up.

Which is why, in my opinion, it has the best battle system. You can do all kinds of crazy shiznit with it, and some really killer moves. I've seen a walkthrough on how to beat Emerald without ever touching the control pad. Now that's cool.

But Emerald is a timed battle (unless you have underwater materia), so it would give you more time if you didn't have to view the full movie each time.
