From the way PS2 mags have been putting it, it looks like FFXI is a complicated game because its fully online and it looks like Sony arent really sure about broadband in European countries, so it may not only be square's fault for not converting the game but also Sony.
And this is Final Fantasy XI we are talking about, the game is fully online, Square may assume that many of us arent getting the modem so they wouldn't bother.
Also developers dont seem very confident about online features on the PS2, I've seen so many DC games that have online features, since its launch there were games with online features and look at the PS2 only 1 game in Europe thats Tony Hawks 3, Sony should have provided one at launch like the way dreamcast had one.
Since they dont seem confident I dont think FF11 will see a european release soon and it may flop even if its converted due to the fact that people have top pay extra, I'd rather add more money on what Im going to spend on a HDD and modem package and get the xbox instead.
No wonder scei always keep on saying PS3 wil be the thing because they know their mistake, HDD + modem as add-on = online games mostly in Japan but the rest of the world there aren many.
Anyway I'm getting an xbox soon so I aint getting the HDD and modem and no ff11 for me but lots of online games on xbox plus there will be very many people I'll be playing with online unlike tony hawks 3 on PS2 where it must be empty most of the time.
My conclusion is that I'm not confident of PS2 going online in Europe and really feel p**s*d of when I read a PS2 mag saying that PS3 is the real deal, I like my PS2 the way it is but it looks like I'll need an xbox to enjoy online gaming at its best on a console.
