A hack 'n' slash? Mindless button bashing?
Crystal Chronicals is looking good, ditching the TUrn-based combat could be a bad idea though, do any of you have anything to say about it?
The graphics are almsot PS2 quality, in the way they are presented.
I was gonna get Wild Arms 3 which is out this month, and looks pretty purdy.
Pros:
- The storyline is absolutely brilliant. It switches between two stories in one land. One, the main one, sees you as Ryu and his companions, roaming around looking for someone's brother. These bits are fairly long, and a fair challenge. The there is the second story, which follows Fou-Lu. Although Ryu is a rookie, Fou-Lu is almost a god, which means that playing as him is just sheer fun - full health, full strength, magic that can kill most enemies in one go. His sections are fairly short, mind, as playing as him for too long might make it a bit too easy. The storyline is gripping, and very differing. You go from one place to another quickly.
- The battles are fun. Ryu has the ability to transform into a Dragon, as does Fou-Lu. You can pick up new Dragon Stones, which allow Ryu to be a new Dragon. Each character has their own unique style. Much more unique than FF games. Battles are also fun as you can do combos, which can result in two magic attacks merging to form one super-magic attack.
- Brilliant characters. They range a lot. You have Ryu, a blue haired boy; Fou-Lu, a wise old emperor; Then you have a princess, a man-cat, a big Fox man, a Robot (with arms that fly off) and a few others who appear later in the game.
- Great value for money. It has gripped me for over 30 hours now, and I paid 19.99 for it.
- Some great sub games, most noticably a Time Trial sandship game and a Fishing game, both of which can be played in several different areas.
- Cool sub-plots. For exanmple the robot, has his own story involving a woman, Ershin, who is trapped inside and speaks.
- Cool weapons. Each character has a differenmt type - Ershin has an arm that flies off, Ursula has a gun, Ryu has a Sword and Cray has a big log.
Cons:
- Save points are few and far between.
- The camera can only be rotated three individual times. In the earlier town, you can't see in the back alleys.
- It's not too hard. But I'm not really complaining.
> I fully recommend Breath Of Fire 4 to each and every one of you.
Really? I was thinking of buying it before, but I was never sure. What's it like?
