Are you one of those PC-gamers out there who ends-up having to fork-out an initial £1,000+ on a brand-new, top-of-the-range PC, each year, just so you can play the latest versions of Championship Manager, or even The Sims?? And then there's the extra £40-or-so in-between so you can get those 'high-performance' graphics in an on-line game of Counter-Strike, too, right? And I bet you barely use YOUR PC for anything-else, either, do you?

Well, then; you may be interested in this...

The following taken from Sunday's Mirror, on how PC gaming could be made a lot cheaper, thanks to the release of a PC Gaming console:

"Personal Comupter aren't meant to be used for games.
You're expected to hit, shake and swear at them, but not to play serious games with them."

"Nevertheless, since the first days of the PC, owners have ignored the many spreadsheet packages pushed on them in favour of flight-sims and shoot-'em-ups."

"Now, some of the best games out there - Quake, Half-Life, The Sims - are on PC. But if games are all you care about, who wants to pay a grand for a machine to play them on?"

"Which brings us to 'DISCover', the world's first PC Games console. With a Pentium III 2Ghz proccesor and a 40-gig hard drive, it can play every single high-end PC game - on your telly. Basic models will be out by the end of the year for about £200, with higher-spec. consoles likely to sell about £450."

Whichever way you look at this, it's got to be a good thing!
Think of the money you could save!!
(And you could probably make a fair-bit, too, selling on your old PCs to people who REALLY need them).

No doubt, you'll be able to play on-line, eventually, and you'll probably be able to run programs like Microsoft World and that on it, somehow, too.

I was thinking of getting an X-Box for Championship Manager, as our chances of getting a new PC seem very-slim... But now, that idea may have to wait!

When your current PC comes to an 'end' which will you buy:
Another £1,200 computer, or the DISCover??

Same here.

You get a PC and yes you do have to upgrade it to play the latest games. What is DISCover? Its a PC, thats going to be out of date before it even hits the shops. They say on the site that it has a P4 3.06Ghz which is good for now. Also 1GB Ram, what type though as that can make a big difference to performance. Oh and a nice Geforce 4 Ti which is already out of date.

Ok its a nice idea but it doesnt stop you from having to upgrade, as this machine will be rubbish by the time Doom 3 hits as the Geforce 4 Ti card will not be able to keep up. Of course other new games will hit the streets that require more and then your basically stuck with a machine thats as out dated as a 486 PC.

If you want to play PC games then get a PC.

Interesting, but I think it's more for console gamers and people with low PCs who can't play the latest games. I already have one beast of a PC which can run everything I can throw at it, so I have no real need for this PC to console convertor.

Still it's a good idea, and it should bring some amazing, unheard of games (for the console gamers anyway) to a much wider audience.

Oh yeah, I forgot that. But then no one would buy Pc's for gaming would they, which is what I suppose this thing is going to do.

Pure brilliance. But weren't we told that you could play PC games on the Xbox, years ago before it was released?
