Aha a console war topic something to rattle the cages of a few Foggers *cough* Turbonutter *cough*. But what is this one about; you've chosen a bland and boring title Dringo!

Well for starters you must be aware that the difference between Nintendo and Sony will greatly decrease in the next generation war. What am I on about? Well Sony's great strength lies in the hands of 3rd party support, which has greatly increased on the Gamecube. Namco committing this early and with Resident Evil on the Gamecube it does seem as if Nintendo are following in Sony's footsteps of course the "Nintendo difference" is still there to top it all off.

But Nintendo is trying to emphasise something different about the Gamecube by making it more "fun", well Iíve tried describing what I mean this way before and got shouted at so Iíll try another means. The PS2 is one big fighting ground, Namco trying to outwit Polyphony with Ridge Racer and how, by greater special effects, faster moving characters, better looking graphics. But Nintendo insists that we don't need to go any further in those departments it is time to concentrate on making the games fun.

Ok?

What does the weird Japanese people mean? Well they have tried to make the Gamecube seem like a toy, something to play and have a laugh with. Consoles were originally toys they were not like a Media system like today where a PS2 is nearly as essential as a PC! But isn't this moving backwards Nintendo surly we want our games to be photo realistic with perfect speech indeed a living movie, don't we?

The entire idea behind the Gamecube and all Nintendo systems at that matter is to have a laugh, have fun! Forcing ourselves into a movie, as we get closer to virtual reality is indeed good and all but Nintendo are leaving that to the X-box and PS2. Nintendo never wanted to try making computer games as real as possible Zelda, Mario and Pokemon ensure that but these games are brilliant fun yes GT3 is fun but only because it seems like we are whipping around a race course at 200 MPH. What is Pokemon trying to mimic in reality? Nothing! Exactly Nintendo are doing something very different to Sony not necessarily better but different.

I prefer this the idea of playing Tennis with Tim Henman is great but with a pink egg firing thing and a ghost. Lets give you an example when Resident Evil forced you to play as a cabinet you thought it was hilarious! Why though when Mario Kart forces a giant spiky shelled Dinosaur into a kart and forces you to run over others??? Simply because a walking cabinet doesn't fit in with the rest of the game.

That is the Nintendo difference they are games never fit in with life, which is why they are so great. Although it is unlikely a remote city will be overrun by Zombies or you'll become an F1 Driver the way the games are constructed it seems possible much like a film. But never once would you think that a floating castle in the sky would hold and imprisoned princess whom can only be save by a plumber who has to jump through paintings is plausible (for starters the Plumber would ask for a deposit).

Meanwhile the 3rd party support such as Namco and Capcom will always make Nintendo a rival to Sony.

Here's to the future

Rare
Leftfield
Retro Studios
Natsume
etc etc

Nintendo has more developers this time, than most Sony ZEALOTS would like to admit to it having!

THQ represented Asmik Ace, and the AKI Corporation for their N64 wrestling games.

Believe me, there are more than you know.

Just as I can't list many that I know are developing for the PS2, you don't know who's doing what for the 'CUBE, as it's not a console that you are that excited about.

But if you want me to throw a dozen names at you of third party developers then I'll do so.

Capcom
Konami
EA
Sega
Midway
Acclaim
THQ
From Software
Namco
Hudson Soft
Ubi-Soft
Interplay

Though Interplay and THQ publish more games than develop - but I don't remember any of the developers that they represent.

But when you've got such top quality 2nd parties, as well as high quality first party titles, the 3rd parties become much less important.

Around 75% of my N64 games came from 1st and 2nd parties.

I sort of thought that way about the N64. But, like many people, I was wrong. Bloody strange market place out there.

Nintendo, 3rd parties, respected 2nd parties. And a stonger lineup than N64 too.
Gamecube will be a winner.
