Once again, FM, you're information is invaluable.

When I do finally get online with SOCOM, I will be a loyal bodyguard - ready to fling myself between you and an adversary without a moments hesitation!

"Etherfast Cable/DSL Router RTR 4Port 10/100 4 RJ45
Mfr code: BEFSR41
Quicklinx: 15KMWS"

= £52.87

Right one, FM?
Because there's a more expensive one under it:

"EtherFast Cable/DSL Router RTR 4Port+PCMCIA 10-100
Mfr code: BEFSR41W
Quicklinx: 235LWS"

Anyway, I hope it's the cheaper one! This broadband gaming is not cheap at all. Uh huh.

And I had a look for these CAT5 ethernet cables. I read about them on the playstation network guides, but...maybe they're called something different on dabs.com?

Cheers.

Cheaper one is the right one.

Search for "CAT5e Patch Cable", Belkin make them.

Cheers FM.

Just a couple more questions, if you don't mind :)

The longest patch cable is 4.2m - which isn't long at all.

There's a 10m one, but that's an assembled network cable. Which is probably what I don't want.

However, I've been looking on the ntl:home website, and they say that their broadband + console package (Ethernet version) provides you with a hud and a 20m ethernet cable, and it says it enables you to use your Pc and PS2 at the same time. But this was they said they'd provide my PS2 with a seperate IP address.

Do you think I should give them a ring first just to check it all out?
Maybe I won't need to buy a router and those cables after all!

What do you say?

I'm going to get a broadband line put in my room, put this modem...

Onto it, then the ethernet cable in the back of the PS2, seems like a good plan...
