The nation's last anthrax scare
By Frederick Clarkson

Oct. 17, 2001
The arrival of letters that claimed to contain anthrax at more than 100 family planning and abortion clinics Monday triggered a new wave of national panic about bioterrorism.

But the sweep of terror by mail brought an entirely different response from the Rev. Donald Spitz, spokesman for the violently antiabortion Army of God.
Spitz cheerfully announced that the flood of potentially life-threatening mail "made my day," but he denied having any knowledge of where the letters came from.

It's not the first time abortion providers have dealt with an anthrax scare. According to the National Abortion Federation, there have been at least 80 anthrax threats against providers since 1998, with an epidemic of almost two dozen publicized threats in 1998 and 1999.

This time, a chapter of the Army of God -- the underground antiabortion group in whose name a 20-year crime spree of arson, assassination and bombing has been carried out against abortion providers -- claimed responsibility. "You have been exposed to anthrax," each letter announced. "We are going to kill all of you. From the Army of God, Virginia Dare Chapter."

Virginia Dare is believed to be the first white child born in the New World, in 1587, days after the first colonists arrived on Roanoke Island. Her grandfather was John White, the governor of Virginia.

My personal opinion...

The Bible is too full of hypocrisy and contradiction to take its contents as a basis for a way of life.

This is just one link obtained from a search.

If you go to http://www.google.com and search for "bible contradictions" you will be presented with page after page of links.

I've got the email addy for this.

There is a link on that site where it gives "Covert Action Methods against Abortion Mills"

I would like to hear from someone like Ant what his feelings are on this matter.
Not for an argument, I respect his views, but I would like to hear another Christian's point of view on this.

(If this thread is felt to be offensive, I understand if it's removed but this wasn't posted to incite a riot here, merely to highlight the sorts of ignorant behaviour that fuel my usual anger)

I agree with Wookiee here.

I think I'd get banned if I wrote what I wanted to, and if it could get passed the filter...

I'm with wookiee too. But I think my question is valid:

If people are able to interpret the bible in such a way, however messed up they are personally,

a) How can people trust this religion when they are looking for something to believe in?

b) Can this be percieved as that the bible can also be harmful

c) Doesn't it question the validity of the bible and christianity itself?

Please, everybody, I mean no offence by this, I have no beleif in religion myself (as some here know) and cannot see the appeal of it and am looking for answers as to why others do out of personal interest.

I got the link wrong, cheers Slavey.

Wookiee, I'm with you on this one (shock horror!)

The things is, I'm not religious, but I doubt these people are either.
To use religion as an excuse for this is to offend those that are Christian and follow a life of understanding, tolerance and forgiveness (The ONLY message Jesus preached, I've read that book and I don't recall "Murder in my name please")

So, these people are a disgrace to those that are religous.
Damn foolish, hateful morons.

I will quite happily smack each and every one of them.

I'm not even going to get started on this one. I can't say anything that won't be offensive.

Another perfect example of how religion has becone the farce it is today, and questions raised include that if people can read the bible and get this out of it, is it really all the other people say it is?
