If not, Shigeru Miyamoto is a god to video games.
In my opinion and many others he is certainly that, creating titles that remain unequal within the gaming world.
In the Past to present day, his conceptual advances are giant leaps for game theory.
Early innovations like the scrolling screen helped Nintendo to break from the rigid single-screen arcade mode and introduced new ideas of space.
Building on that foundation, Super Mario Brothers was one of the first games that gave players a world to experience and a lot of fun to boot.
Essentially then he IS the father of modern console gaming. In the pantheon of game designers, he reigns supreme. He has created the most memorable titles in video game history and is responsible for some of the most recognizable characters in the world, now who would argue with that?
His inspiration as he always states lies in his past childhood, reminiscent of a Mario or Link exploring depths and caves. That Miyamoto's games are adventures would come as no surprise then would they?. But as trivial and weird as it may seem, this was the fuel behind his ideas and the advancement of the multi company gaming empire.
Why?
In the world of computer games. The small Japanese man created several of the most popular and trend-setting titles in video-game history, including "Donkey Kong" ,"Super Mario Bros." and "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time".
These games where HUGE crowd pullers, in a collection of wonderous titles crafted by him as well, but not on the same scale.
These games were key to Nintendo becoming a leading producer of video games, making for a lively competition with archrival Sony.
Regardless of the statistics of Nintendo games or the popularity within the older market, the original "Mario" game and its sequels alone have sold more than 140 million units!, now what about that?!!.
In my opinion the man is a genius and a huge inspiration to many within the gaming world, to many he is a hero and some would argue with this but, he is the saviour within the gaming world and the driving force regardless of the company.
Miyamoto remains a perfectionist, always has and always will be.

The tension

Damage would be a nice feature but the aim of GT3 is

So colliding into the side might slow you down a bit.
That's sort of tense but not properly and it completely loses the excitment and appeal of the real sport.
GT4 will include damage in real time but you

Well really, if you're going to speeds over 70 mph, the slightest mistake should cause the car to jolt, not slowing you down as such but a violent knock on the dual shock pad and seeing your wing mirror fly off would be much more shocking.
The courses would become more complex and this would be where the tension came in.
Do you go for speed and risk totalling your car?
Or do you play it safe and only come 3rd or 4th?
I'd say that F-Zero is much

The tension comes from your concentration, take your eyes of the road for a millisecond and you can loose the race.
Damage would be a nice feature but the aim of GT3 is to be the best driver you can, If you bang into walls your car stops and it's hard to catch up.so if it stops or smashes to a pin the fear of doing so still remains damage or no damage.
GT4 will include damage in real time but you only see it if you can't drive and bang into the sides or when you colide with other drivers, Problem is the AI is sooooooo dumb that by the time the race ended my car would be a wreck through no fault of my own so the need to put the AI first.

I don't think it'll be anything like Sonic...
And videos always put emphasis on the action, it won't have much more fighting than your average Nintendo platformer.
Just admit that you like a couple of Nintendo style of games on the side but prefer the bulk of your playing to be realistically based.
And read my topic on lack of tension.
Then you'll understand where, aside from the lack of innovation, GT3 got its pasting from.
Doesnt matter what games he came up with, the man is clearly a deviant of some sort and I wouldn't let him near any children's console in my house.
