Shigeru Miyamoto is the George Lucas of video games.

If not, Shigeru Miyamoto is a god to video games.

In my opinion and many others he is certainly that, creating titles that remain unequal within the gaming world.
In the Past to present day, his conceptual advances are giant leaps for game theory.
Early innovations like the scrolling screen helped Nintendo to break from the rigid single-screen arcade mode and introduced new ideas of space.
Building on that foundation, Super Mario Brothers was one of the first games that gave players a world to experience and a lot of fun to boot.
Essentially then he IS the father of modern console gaming. In the pantheon of game designers, he reigns supreme. He has created the most memorable titles in video game history and is responsible for some of the most recognizable characters in the world, now who would argue with that?
His inspiration as he always states lies in his past childhood, reminiscent of a Mario or Link exploring depths and caves. That Miyamoto's games are adventures would come as no surprise then would they?. But as trivial and weird as it may seem, this was the fuel behind his ideas and the advancement of the multi company gaming empire.

Why?

In the world of computer games. The small Japanese man created several of the most popular and trend-setting titles in video-game history, including "Donkey Kong" ,"Super Mario Bros." and "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time".
These games where HUGE crowd pullers, in a collection of wonderous titles crafted by him as well, but not on the same scale.
These games were key to Nintendo becoming a leading producer of video games, making for a lively competition with archrival Sony.
Regardless of the statistics of Nintendo games or the popularity within the older market, the original "Mario" game and its sequels alone have sold more than 140 million units!, now what about that?!!.
In my opinion the man is a genius and a huge inspiration to many within the gaming world, to many he is a hero and some would argue with this but, he is the saviour within the gaming world and the driving force regardless of the company.

Miyamoto remains a perfectionist, always has and always will be.

Thanks for reading.

Put it this way Resi,
In Resident Evil, would it have been half as tense if instead of killing her, the zombies simply slapped Jill in handcuffs and sent her home?

It still would've been hard but would there have been a real sense of danger?

Slowing down is the pettiest punishement the game can give.
You mean you might come 3rd instead of first?
It's still challenging and tricky but like I said in my topic, there's no sense of danger and the emotion of the real sport is lost.
It's set in more of a "happy world" than Mario and co where no one get's hurt and they race as fast as they can around beautiful tracks without being any danger whatsoever.
Atleast Mario can get hurt by falling off a platform or into lava.

If you slow down then you lose one or two places, possibly costing you one or two points.
If you smash your vehicle up then you're out of the tournament, probably dead.

ANY game can be slightly tense down to getting it right and not losing the game.

But a racer like that will NEVER capture the true emotion of the real sport.

And Turbo, Donkey Kong Country by Rare is the best 2D platformer ever.
best graphics on a 16bit system, superb music and gameplay, challenging, full of ideas and filled with secrets.

It brought DK back into modern gaming.

Indeed, the risk of totalling your car is not there, but if you go off course and spin out, you've basically lost. Most of the time you avoid hitting walls on the basis that it slows you down so much.

Anyway, I can't wait for Burnout, where the emphasis really IS on the perfect run.

Do you go for speed and risk 360 spins, hitting other drivers, going well off course, banging into the sides, loosing your well earned place/position or do you play it safe and maintain a certain speed away from them.

When you've been driving for 60 minutes on the endurance races the tension to stay where you are and not to mess up in any shape or form is unbelievable.

Yes, shigsy may have invented platformers, but that doesn't mean he's the best at them. The best platformer ever created was Sonic 3. It was true genius, and I have never played anything to match it.

So if your looking forward to J and D then you are lookign forward to a platformer which was created by shigsy, many RPG's yes including final fantasy is based upon and got ideas from Zelda. F Zero created Wipeout, Mario Kart created fun racers.

Sorry but without him the Platform genre may of never been created or alternativly be in early stages, futuristic racers will be quite a way off, RPG's won't feature much character interaction or invovle in depth story lines.

Without him the industry would be at a loss now what can he do to RTS with Pikmin?

T'is not want not! I fly to the stars and fall below to my knees and pray, but alas my shiggy pic can never stay, only to sing to me as if it'was only a mirage, nothing of which you could imagine or dream.

So now I pray to thee thrice and thrice a night, for my shiggy must be at my side, and at my side he must stay.
