Tony Hawks 3. How important is it?

Well, some would say it's no more important than any other game garunteed a lot of sales. Its nothing special, its YET ANOTHER sequel game on the black box of no originality.

Others may say, its maybe not for me but it is important for the PS2 as it will be the first game to offer on-line play and if its succesful, it could pave the way for many more on-line games. Yes, we are all expecting on-line deathmatches on various PS2 FPSs and on-line RPGs as soon as the hardware hits the PS2. But THPS3 is going to be a bit more of a social experience for the on-line gamer, it won't be without its competetive side, but you will be able to "meet up with friends" down at the skate park, without leaving your chair. Hopefully, this kind of social on-line gaming could help other games from other genres go on-line when before they wouldn't really have bothered.

Then there are those who would say, who cares about the on-line side of things - the modem isn't out for a year. Tony Hawks 3 is the game I bought my PS2 for! More tricks, new skaters, new parks, even more depth than the copy of THPS2 that I'm still playing regularly!!!

I would personally fall into that last category. I am currently riding the despair train that is the world of unemployment. No-one wants to give me a job, so try as I might, my days are doomed to be long and boring.
THPS3 WILL change all that, I've been a huge fan of skating for years, I remember getting very excited because Tony Hawk made an appearance in Police Academy 3!
I couldn't believe how good Tony Hawks 1 was, I further couldn't believe how much better THPS2 was and after hearing these words:-
"put a skater in front of this then watch him scrabble about on the floor looking for his jaw" from PSW on the topic of the third installment, my hands now sweat regularly in anticipation.

Am I putting too much hope into THPS3, well probably. But I've been waiting for this game for about 8 months and that has felt like about 8 years. I feel like a child at christmas, this game has got me stupidly excited and I actually can't wait to buy it! I'm unemployed and I can't wait to part with money! I imagine only a few of you older guys will know the feeling. Its very strange to have a computer game at the top of your list of priorites but hey...

So, how important is THPS3 to you, and why?

It also shows you how to do that on the PSW dvd.

Dammit man, you spelt my old name wrong :)
Anyway, in some peoples eyes that information is a spoiler, I didn't put the exact way to get the level goal cos that would annoy so many people who love playing the THPS games and don't actually need to cheat to win.

When online if the host has a cable modem or ISDN, etc, 3 other people can skate with him. If the host of the game has a 56k modem or worse then only one other person can skate with him.

*****SPOILER*******

The goal you are talking about is when police are chasing an armed robber. To complete the goal you end up pushing the robbers over the edge of a highway.

It sounds pretty good, but who knows what it will be when the game finally comes out???

i dint really like the first two games but fans will love this game on one level you have to stop a escaped convict on your skateboard you have to block him or something.
the online facilitys also look like a good idea and i have heard 14 people can be in one skate park at once but i am not sure.

By the way, Tony Hawk made an appearence in Police Academy 4 along with Steve Cab and Lance Mountain among others.

Tony Hawk was also in the Christian Slater film 'Gleaming the Cube' as was Rodney Mullen, Lance Mountain and other Bones Brigade skaters

Although Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 is going to be amazing and going to be in my PS2 as soon as it comes out :-) I thought I might point a few things out.

Levels aren't going to be as big as magazines and everyone in the industry is making them out to be.

But they will have interactive pedestrians.

Its not going to be easier to make huge combos as Neversoft have changed the manual and the revert, as they hated the fact that at E3 too many people were getting huge scores.

However, the freestyle tricks and being able to link them together will be cool, I especially want to see the handstand double flip.
Linking lip tricks will also be cool.

Compitition levels are alot harder than before, you will have to get well over 150,000 without bailing to get the gold.

Although that will make it more of a challenge.

Even though there are some negative things about the game, I don't really care. I've played and completed PSOne versions of THPS 1 and 2 and the GBA version of THPS2.

I'm gonna love THPS 3 because of the way it makes me feel when I beat a high score or unlock one of the videos at the end of the game. I also love it when I totally waste my mates in grafiti or trick attack

Whatever happens I will get the game for PS2 and for GBA.

This is one game I am waiting for - The previous two games were brilliant but this looks like being something else - The graphics and environments are incredible and the gameplay should hopefully be as good as ever!! Plus a killer sound track - Should be one of the biggest releases around christmas time!!

Im not sure if i will get this game, looking on DVDs the games graphics look stunning, with huge environments and lots of detail. The gameplay too looks as good as ever, with all the usuall tricks, tasks and so on. There is also now extra things to do, little scenorios to complete. On PSW it shows that in one mission you need to trigger an earthqauke to stop some thiefs, its really imaganative.

But thats where the new stuff ends, it then goes back to the repetative gameplay, just as usuall. I was not a huge fan of the 1st 2, but still got them and enjoyed them, but i doubt i will get this.

To me, Airblade looks a lot more appealing.
