Could be the best thing since sliced bread.

Heavily rumoured and would kill off opposition from Sony. Nintendo and their second/first parties develop around 30 games a year with 95% of which reaching status of a very good game and at least 40% being treated amongst the greatest games of recent years.

Rumours have been started from insiders when Microsoft expressed interest in the venture and Nintendo also seemed intrigued. The concept isn't too ridiculous, despite both thriving in the market Nintendo and Microsoft are vastly falling behind industry leader Sony. Microsoft's main goal is to get itseld as the industry leader whilst Nintendo's also shares the aim but desires to continue producing fresh and innovative games amongst others.

Nintendo's EAD head Shigeru Miyamoto, seen as the greatest games designer in the world ever, has made comments surrounding Microsoft. Stating that "Machine strength needs to be dynamic, although (X-box's) power is phenomonal and presents many oppertunities it doesn't have the dynamic structure of Gamecube", he also said commenting on the rumours "(laughing) Well with Microsoft's Money i guess it means there'd be no stopping Nintendo"

More as it comes.

No not at all.

I honestly believe that Nintendo would continue to patch out quality games even without competition.

Surely you meant; since when has *no* competition ever stopped Nintendo making quality games?

Seeing as it's generally accepted that companies work harder when faced with competition.

No.

Nintendo wouldn't stop making quality games if they were the only one left or without any competition. Look back at the NES when it wasn't all about market dominance and have a look at the games out then.

The thing is, if Nintendo and Microsoft join together and sony are 'killed' then there would be no competition and therefore if there was no competition then there would be no need to make good and fresh ideas in games because there would be no need to because it is the only console.
