Some bloke named Andy made Worms for the amiga in his bedroom and then joined Team 17 when they saw it.

I think he still works for them.

So you can say that it was Team 17 just the same way Miyamoto made Mario, but you COULD say that Nintendo made Mario.

Edgy, Team17 didn;t make Worms originally.

Some bloke made it in his bedroom, he took it down to the local independant computer shop where his mate worked to see what people thought.

It went from there. Team 17 bought the licence off him and turned it into a huge series of games.

I agree with Edgy with his first, second and 5th (although worms has never been quite right since Worms United...)

It would be nice if Team 17 went back to that original style.
I'll be looking out for this 3D game (presumably all formats).

Now Edgy, choose which one of your favourite devellopers to get a free game from...

Miyamoto's Pikmin?
Rareware's Kameo?

My favourite Developers?

1. Shiguru Miyamoto:
Inventor of the platformer, and creator of such gaming series' like: Donkey Kong, The Legend Of Zelda, Super Mario, and many many more. He also participated in the making of games like Goldeneye, PokÈmon and 1080! He constantly refreshes the gaming world with new technology and new and innovative games whilst also creating brilliant and original games with his older characters like Luigi. Some could argue that his amazing success was just lucky, however he has always been creative and, before he started in videogames, he was a cartoon artist.

2. Rareware
These guys originally made games for the classic consoles like ZX Spectrum. They are going to release a game based on one of their Speccy games on the Game Boy Advance. These guys used the Donkey Kong License to give us the Donkey Kong Land series on the Game Boy and the Donkey Kong Country series on the SNES. They also gave us Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie and many more classics, including the cute, cuddly, but very mean Conker's Bad Fur Day. Just like Shiguru Miyamoto, Rareware (or Rare as they're modernly called) have brought us new innovative games that have changed the way games are made. I think there is only one word which can justify them. And that is ->Original

3. Westwood Studios (part of Electronic Arts)
These guys brought us real time strategy games like Command & Conquer and Dune 2000. They also also bringing us a Shoot-em-up based on the original Command & Conquer. Command & Conquer games are original and take a lot of strategy. You have to have clever tactics to defeat your enemies whether playing against the computer or just a few friends. The Red Alert series looked like just a cheap spin-off of the original, however, even though the level system is very similar, it feels like a totally different game. Westwood Studios also take the time to produce stunning FMV sequences (some even starring the actor who did the voice overs for Darth Vader in the Star Wars movies!) and brilliant music tracks. A lot of effort goes into making these games quality hits, which is hard to do when involving games that use the Keyboard and a mouse instead of a Joypad.

The Runners up:

ID Software.
These guys brought us a huge amount of FPS's from the classic Doom, to the bloody Quake. These guys revolutionalised gaming to a new frontier. Developers began to realise that games didn't have to be in a 2D cartoon format to be any good, and that technology could give us better games.

Team17.
Remember Boggy B? The brave leader who sent his troops into battle. Who sent his troops into battle on top of a giant dog? Or on the Windows 95 Desktop? Wait a minute, that sounds like Worms! Yep, Worms. Those li'l pink things that shoot each other with Bazookas, set old women on each other, and throw bananas that explode into more bananas of equal size at each other. The worms series has always been popular and will be for a very long time. The developers even through in a few jokes like the "Aliens" cheat which was an April Fool, and by saying that Worms was released on the ZX sepctrum. Gullible fans believed them but then Team 17 later broke the news to them on their website. Apparantly, there is going to be new 3D Worms game for all formats soon, will it be as good as the classic format?
