Japanese import Gamecubes will be able to use US GC software after you do a bit of DIY on your Gamecube.

As of yet I am unsure to whether the GC uses software coding to attempt to prevent Piracy. I know the PS2 and X-Box do but Im not sure if the GC does (I could be wrong) so if people copy the optical disks (it is possible to do this) then they may well run as normal.
If anyone knows for a fact that this is wrong could you put the place where I can check out this info. Thanks
Millions my ·rse!
But there will be few panasonic ones compared to normal Gamecubes making the Cube an awkward piracy target compared to the nice mainstream DVD's of the PS2 and Xbox.

you rip the info from the optical disk, burn it onto a recordable DVD, chip your "panasonic gamecube" to boot the thing and hey presto, Nintendo loose millions :-(
The only way to pirate on the Gamecube would be to perfectly replicate one of those optical disks, which means the illeagal manufacturers will be a relatively easy target for Nintendo to sue the hell out of.
