My collegue is telling me that petrol is clear,but I don't believe him, I think its dark grey, because if you buy a top that is petrol colour its like a charchol grey colour. Diesel too? If you buy Diesel colour clothes they would be blue.

He is alos trying to tell me that tax-free petrol that farmers and lorry drivers use is pink!

Can someone colloberate or refute his story?

I don't know for certain. For red diesel though (used for agricultural equipment), they use red dye so ordinary people can't buy it and use it for their cars. (It's cheap you see). If the cops check your tank they can see if the you have red diesel and impound your car.

It comes in all sorts of colours, thanks to dye. I think its clear to begin with though.

Yea some agricultural engines do have 'red diesel' it's red so that normal folks can't use it on the fly.

And Petrol is clearish with a tint of blue/green in it.

petrol is clear. how can you have gone through your whole life without seeing any?

Petrol and Diesel are actually clear in colour (not counting red diesel which is red) :)
