The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
But still, these forums have had incredible growth over the last 12 months or so, but I don't feel it will grow any further without a bit of an overhaul of how things work.
The problem is, in my opinion, that there are too many posts for you to decide which ones to read, and you spend too long reading, and not enough time posting. You read through half a dozen posts that don't inspire a reply, and by the time you have found one worth replying to, so much time has passed that you have to go do something else.
I'm not sure if anyone else feel this way, but it's how it seems to me, given that I don't always have a great deal of time.
So, what are the solutions?
I propose a round the world race, in 80 days.
Sorry, no, that's one of my other projects.
I propose a forum 'search' being introduced.
I feel that if you could search under a number of categories, such as date posted, name of poster, key words in post, people would spend less time browsing through posts looking for something relevant to reply to, or would find a post that would be a more suitable place to put their thoughts, rather than starting a new post.
I can see this increasing the popularity of the forums, as we all have things we prefer to write about, people whose posts we prefer to read, and if we can immediately pin-point these, ukchatforums would be a more enjoyable site to visit.
