WARNING, THIS TOPIC IS DESIGNED TO START AN ARGUMENT

OK, so everyone always goes on about how Shigsy oozes originality, but does he really? From what I can see, he's made virtually nothing but platformers and platformer sequels all his life.

Also, is Nintenod really more original than Sony overall, because from what I can see the GameCube is going to be nothing but sequels, save the odd one-off like Pikmin and Super Monkey Ball (developed by Sega, though). Currently there are loads of original games on the PS2, and don't give me all that "The Ps2's been out longer" bullcrap, it's Nintendo's fault for being late.

So? Loads of PS2 games (MGS2 in particluar) are chock full of original "ideas" but you still slate them.

Shigsy is a man, just like the rest of us! (Bar Sheepy, Myst1que and erm... Tony) He laughs, he cries, he solves problems and he eats food. The only difference is that he makes games... good ones at that... it depends on how you look @ him. As a developer he's the man, but as a human, he's short...

Spyhunter is already out on PS2, and WWF & Tetris are hardly original. Neither's Starfox.

doesn't matter what he's made. he is the most highly regarded game designer in history. the reason for this is simply that every game he makes is full of original ideas. we are not talking originality in the form of a brand new genre - there are pretty much no more to be invented. we are talking about small aspects of every game that will make you sit back and admire the way that the game has incorporated these aspects. we are not talking fancy graphics, although his works tends to push the hardware it's written for. his originality stems from the polish he gives to a game which make it a classic rather than another one for the shelf.

shigsy commands total respect in the industry. everyone wants to work with him. everyone wants to emulate him. there is a reason for this.

Originality?

Well... on Gamecube there's PIKMIN... Kameo... Galleon... did I mention PIKMIN? And Kameo? Oh and there's Starfox Adventures... minus the Zeldary play and the fact that Starfox is about 10 years old. There's also Luigi's Mansion... and Kameo... PIKMIN... and Spyhunter. There's that thingy game, and the other game with the red box. WWF Wrestling... and Tetris Worlds... amd Kameo... Err... Too Human. And err.... that other game, with the mouse... Mickey! Mario Kart! And erm... Kameo...

See, Nintendo know their stuff... and so do their fans!

Well I have no idea what any of those games are, so you could be lying about them being original. Im sure The Things just a Resi Evil take off. Did you not read what I said "dont give me that Fantavision crap" that's not original, oh its a puzzle game with fireworks, YAWN it's also a pile of crap.


Anyway im not gonna argue with you if you say there original then fine there original. all I know is that I certainly won't be buying a PS2 for any of those fantastic sounding games, well maybe Jak and Daxter. Im after Half Life, Deux Ex, MGS2, GTA3 stuff like that.
