I got a few that I've done myself and I want to know if there is a way to play them on my PS2 as I don't want to watch them on the dvd player downstairs. Something tells me that it's not possible but it's worth asking. Thanks to anyone that bothers to reply with a sensible answer.

I have the same drive as you (I think - Pioneer DVR-105) and I've written a few DVD-R's.

I also have an unmodded PS2, and so far it hasn't played any of them!

My Sony DVP-S725D plays them just fine though.

Just tried a DVD-R that was lying around in my unmodded PS2 and it worked nicely.

So it might be better to pick up a DVD writer (got mine for £100) and make your own DVDs. Also, it would either be better quality, or fit more on it than a VCD.

Also worked in my Xbox, but there are so many drives out there for the Xbox, it doesn't mean a thing to anyone else.

That's the trouble, there's far far too many formats and manufacturers of the machines are trying to cater for a very diverse and differing market.

My philosophy (sp) is, I've got a DVD - I'll watch it on a DVD player, I've got a PS2 game - I'll play it on my PS2, I've got a VCD - I'll throw it in the bin or give it back because I know it's going to be crap :)

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Looks like I'll have to find some cash to get myself a DVD player at one point. Might go for the one that plays DivX and stuff. I've seen it in the SR mag and it doesn't lok too bad. Might hve to wait until christmas though.
