Based on the first and second page of the chat room named "I am also displeased by Nintendo.." where they were going on about programming languages (mainly basic) and programming games.

Not if you want to re-use or re-understand your code in the future, as you often do with modern game engines. C may be marginally faster than C++, but it's relatively unmaintainable and unextensible, which are pretty important these days.
