I was watching Game Network a few minutes ago, and I switched the channel to find a short Nintendo presentation. It was presented by this guy in a suit, who had a very annoying 'smile.'

A lot of the time he said the GameCube will be an, "completely new and gaming experience."

He also went on and on about how Nintendo don't care about the latest technology, and that they only focus on the games. Obviously a dig at the PS2 for having a DVD Player.

Something that made me laugh was when he commented on the Pokemon Mini. He said it was, "although it's small, it is truly a revolution in gaming."

Pah! Lol!

But those were okay. I would expect those. It's this that really got me.

"Nintendo have a heritage of video games, that goes back over 100 years."

Erm...so consoles came out in 1900, did they??

Any thoughts on this??

And you may think I'm mad, or I'm lying. But my brother also heard it, and I'm very sure I heard it.

I'm happy, I just heard my local town has a GC, JOY! no games at the moment though, tight git, shouldn't be running a low class arcade should he?

well better than nowt for the mo.
+ I'd rather the GC have a DVD player, but even if it doesn't it doesn't matter, DVDrs will be out soon, and that's better. :)

FMV then.

It doesn't matter if it's full screen or not. It's still, FMV.

Probably Shiggy.

"A lot of the time he said the GameCube will be an, "completely new and gaming experience.""

Yeah. Sony and Microsoft have said that too.

""He also went on and on about how Nintendo don't care about the latest technology, and that they only focus on the games. Obviously a dig at the PS2 for having a DVD Player."

Yeah, it obviously is a dig at PS2. I've seen Sony have a dig at Nintendo as well. Also, the fact that it's a purely games machine happens to be true. So neh. :0P

"Something that made me laugh was when he commented on the Pokemon Mini. He said it was, "although it's small, it is truly a revolution in gaming."

"Pah! Lol!"

Agreed, but you haven't seen anything like it before. It's still crap though.

"But those were okay. I would expect those. It's this that really got me."

""Nintendo have a heritage of video games, that goes back over 100 years.""

It shouldn't have, it's true. Well, a twisted truth. Nintendo have indeed been around about a century now, started off by making card games. Not quite computer games, but it might have been mistranslated.

"Erm...so consoles came out in 1900, did they??"

No, read above.

"Any thoughts on this??"

Always answer questions before I reach them...

And you may think I'm mad, or I'm lying.

Nintendo have been in the childrens' toy market for over 100 years, and they still are today, making high quality toys for children that is.

Someone may correct me if necessary, but Nintendo have been company for 100 years is probably what he meant to say. I think that they origionally started off making playing cards or something? I would be interested if someone could provide more details if possible.

As a note about the DVD player: The DVD player (which is basically an MPEG2 decoder) is incorporated into the processor so that the PS2 can play MPEG2 files (namely CGI) without a great load on the processor. Adding a DVD player was an after-thought. Therefore we, the gamers, are actually better off for having a DVD player.
