I was watching Game Network a few minutes ago, and I switched the channel to find a short Nintendo presentation. It was presented by this guy in a suit, who had a very annoying 'smile.'

A lot of the time he said the GameCube will be an, "completely new and gaming experience."

He also went on and on about how Nintendo don't care about the latest technology, and that they only focus on the games. Obviously a dig at the PS2 for having a DVD Player.

Something that made me laugh was when he commented on the Pokemon Mini. He said it was, "although it's small, it is truly a revolution in gaming."

Pah! Lol!

But those were okay. I would expect those. It's this that really got me.

"Nintendo have a heritage of video games, that goes back over 100 years."

Erm...so consoles came out in 1900, did they??

Any thoughts on this??

And you may think I'm mad, or I'm lying. But my brother also heard it, and I'm very sure I heard it.

Only a few people are aware of this, but Nintendo did start making video games in 1901. Instead of using television, they had to project the games onto a white screen.

Only one console was made, it took a team of 14 men 12 years to make it. Leading the operation was Charles Nintendoo McFabio the 3rd. He and his team of top scientists built their console "Hyper Nintendoo Machine" from the ground up. The completed console was first shown to the general public in Hockobre, New Mexico on August 17th 1901.

The game showcased on this new machine was concieved and produced Alfonso Kojima, the great great great grandfather of Hideo and Masayuki Kojima (known for Metal Gear and Moomins respectively). The game was called "Cheeky Solid Snake at the seaside", it was way ahead of its time. So far ahead infact that only now are we ready to recieve it. Its been tweaked a bit here and their to include modern buildings and alter the fashions. Its switched machines as well. We will be seeing it sometime next year on the PS2 retitled "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of liberty". The game has been dulled down slightly from its original incarnation. A lot of the plot twists have been removed and the realism isn't what it once was, but aside from a slight cut in the frame rate - the game is essentially true to the original.

The world however, was not ready to accept these radical technological developments and under the orders of Queen Victoria's momentarily reanimated chryogenically frozen head. Charles McFabio and the machines co-creators (including Alfonso Kojima) were buried alive in a cave in Exeter.

This information was only discovered recently when "Mcguyver" came across it whilst solving "the puzzle of the ages". It is yet to officially go public, so you guys are lucky to know!

Oh, b****r, and I don't think I could afford it either... which always helps when buying something. I did have enough cash for the GC and 2 games... but I've bought 5 textbooks in the last fortnight... although I still have enough for 90% of a Gamecube.

Hmmm, could argue that point by saying it's not the power that makes the games, but the developers. You just have to buy whatever you can to play the games you want to.

April is too far away. Bloody exams then, too.

To be honest, I'm not too sure whether the Gamecube is the console I should get now... seeing as my Pc can now cope with modern games... but hopefully, come the launch, I'll still shell out on the 'cube.

Yes, I know. It doesn't make it any less FMV. Just FMV as a texture. I'm also sure that you won't be killing fifty enemies, looking into the distance over cliffs and the sea, or possibly blowing up anything, while watching tv. Unless it's one of those big screen things, ala Blade Runner. That would be cool. But it's still FMV. :0)

Having an MPEG decoder in the system allow FMV's to be beautifully presented, DVD style menus (GT3), demo discs such as PSW,PSM2 with game trailers, behind the scenes etc.

In game Subtitles, other voice languages and alot of things are possible. Using the DVD format and MPEG 2 in games is great, All you need to play movies is the driver :-D

Smart move i thought :-)

Grix: It means you can show videos on polygons. So, for example, in Metal Gear Solid you could watch a newscast on a TV screen and gather more information. The possibilities are endless.
