I found talking to germans helped. The tapes we got always sounded cheesy and when I spoke to proper germans (not recorded on the tapes) they sound much better, and they also are less stringent on the vocabularly they use e.g. there not really fussed if they say words in the wrong order :)

That's actually pretty good Shrimper, have you been learning it long or did you use to live in Germany? I say that because I think two other people from the forum use to live in Germany.

It's not easy on my ears like Spanish or French but I do enjoy German. Found it difficult in school though. I remember I hated French I think I got an E too. Now I think I'll be fluent in about 5 years lol.

I can't remember who said it off the forum but they suggested to help learn German I should think of it as a beautiful language, which is true as I didn't before.

I have lots of those language audio lessons which helps a lot.

Same, and it is honestly not exaggerating when I say that I'm going to get a U in Italian.

Unfortunately not fluent in any yet, some I know better than others, like French and German I've been learning in school.

The languages are French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Cantonese and Mandarin

My current girlfriend speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin so she's been helping me there. I have a few friends who speak German and as for Spanish and French I'm doing very well at the moment.

Japanese I use to date a girl but I didn't get her to help me as much but I am familiar with it and have been learning the hiragana and katakana. You need to know about 2000 characters to read a Japanese newspaper. I wonder how Kawada is getting on, he's moving there I think. :)

I'm planning to travel to some of these countries and hoping to stay for a month or two in some of the countries especially Japan. If you really want to learn a language than what better way than actually living in the country.

Don't suppose you know any languages do you?

9 languages? What are they, and are you fluent in any of them?

Interesting :)

I'm 26, Art is my main thing but I would like to get into animation. I didn't do too well in school but since leaving I suddenly love learning and teaching myself new skills. For a few years now I've been trying to learn 9 languages on and off as well learn to play musical instruments such as violin, piano and guitar. I don't really listen to a lot of music and I have been a big fan of the internet since 1995.

Everything interests me and I'm hoping to do a lot of traveling over the next few years so I can do more photography.
