I know little about the "console" world and so don't have a clue if there is life in the PS1 yet.
The Sega DC is available at the same price and is I assume technically better but what will swing it is the continued support (or lack of) for the two platforms.
So if anyone can enlighten me as to the status of the PS1 in terms of continued support that would be great.
Thanks,
Dave
better graphics, better games, better console
Like what exactly?? The only game I would want for my PS2 that is available for the DC is probably Virtua Tennis, but with Tennis 2k2 in the pipeline, even that doesn't fuss me.
The Dreamcast may have several good games, but, can it's best games in a genre beat those of the PS2 (when taking into account the PS2 plays PSX games). I don;t personally think so.
PS2 DC
RPG: Final Fantasy Series Skies of Arcadia
Driving: Gran Turismo 3 MSR
Football: Pro Evolution 2/ISS UEFA something
Action: Onimusha Shenmue?
Flying: Starfighter Nothing really
Fighting: Tekken Series Soul Calibur
Strategy: Kessen ummm, help
Fun: Crazi Taxi Crazi Taxi 2
Bizzare: Freak Out Ooga Booga import!
So out of that list, I only prefer Crazi Taxi 2 and Ooga Booga to Sony's alternative, not really a good advert for having a DC, but if you really don't want to save that little bit more for a PS2, I suppose it isn't that bad.
better graphics, better games, better console
There is the mini screen you can buy for it to make it a portable console but the whole thing requires bundles of batteries and the screen costs £100
Also the DC has more games suited for younger children
while alot of the games on ps1 are for and older audience minus a few games
in the end it's your choice but i would go with the Dreamcast as i hardly play my ps1 anymore
