The best news I have heard in ages! I can't wait :)
The Matrix? - manga techniques used in film
Lord Of The Rings? - the one true god of a movie
Star Wars? - fairy tale in space
Crimson Tide and Enemy of the State are excluded from this statement however. :)
Just a few examples...
> The Rock -
good
> Black Hawk Down
not seen
> Gone in Sixty Seconds
Argh!
> Con Air
Good.
> Armageddon
Excellent. Good characters.
> Pearl Harbour (over hyped and history was re-written)
Sucky
> Enemy of the State
Slow
> Crimson Tide
Snorefest

24 is good. Morrowind is astonishing (sp?).
I have to say I have read up on Don Simpson and there is a formula to a lot of bruckheimers movies. Father figure, etc.
A lot of Tom Cruise movies have a formula too.
Tom Cruise is an expert in something.
He has a crisis of confidence
Some girl helps him get his confidence back.
This applies to
Cocktail
Top Gun
Days of thunder
Mission impossible
Mission impossible 2
Mabye slightly in Minority report (although this is more of a carbon copy plot of Judge Dredd - guy works for the system, get framed, breaks out, goes on tun, breaks back in to clear his name yadda yadda yadda)
Anyway I appear to have wandered. :D
> The Rock > Not seen.
> Black Hawk Down > Okayish war film.
> Gone in Sixty Seconds > Nothing special, yet enjoyable.
> Con Air > Poor.
> Armageddon > Poor, yet watchable (plagiarised Deep Impact).
> Pearl Harbour > Enjoyable.
> Enemy of the State > Good film.
> Crimson Tide > Not seen.
That's my opinion. The guy's nothing special, but most of those aren't too bad.
Black Hawk Down
Gone in Sixty Seconds
Con Air
Armageddon
Pearl Harbour (over hyped and history was re-written)
Enemy of the State
Crimson Tide
Basically some decent saturday night films. Just because Tilta doesn't like them doesn't mean they are crap, far from it. Admitedly a couple of his films aren't very good but the rest are good entertainment.
What are Jerry Bruckheimer's films?
