Nah, it's a good issue, just been reading the part about XII that game sounds so good. If it's not ruined the multiplayer should rule.

Compared to where ? Outer Mongolia ?

What annoys me is that it's stupidly evident that the 'Cube is a damn good console, yet barely anyone knows that apart from rampant fanboys like Whitestripe here. Know what happens if every disgruntled Cube owner does what he says and p"sses off ? You get a group of slavering Fanboys left with everyone laughing at them.

No one in their right mind can claim Nintendo's marketing, awareness of the European market, pricing structure, software releases and courting of third party developers, and awareness of the changing market in general, is anything but flawed.

A lot of the problem is about perception, the 'Cube may well be close the to Xbox in terms of user base, but few believe that to be true, hence the real facts are immaterial.

Connectivity ? Most people want online connectivity or nothing, and not everyone even wants that ! the GC-GBA link up idea is a gimmick at best, a cynical ploy to sell GBA's at worst.

I'd seriously like to see someone argue in clear english without slagging off the competitors that Nintendo's software releases of late have not been lacking and massively delayed. You can argue all you like that you can use Freeloader, but most console buyers do not use imports and never will. A small core of users do and this means they do not really consider the plight of the main user base that can't see why the hell Mario Golf isn't available here right now...

It is not out of the question to release a game in all three territories (USA, Europe, Japan) simultaneously. Why then do games like F Zero, PN03, Mario Golf not get this treatment ? Does Nintendo Japan have repeated amnesia, they develop a game, forget about anywhere except Japan, realise once it's out in Japan they need to translate it and then do it, instead of doing it alongside the original dev team in the first place ? You can argue other developers like Squaresoft do not do this, but they are not reliant on one platform and don't have users waiting for something to play.

Multiformat games are another area I cannot believe none of you are annoyed with. Gamecube typically gets them last and even then little improved on the PS2 version with the notable exception of Conflict Desert Storm which had improved graphics and supposed AI changes.

Demo discs ? Whilst America and Japan now have a steady stream of these all we've seen is a speculative survey in one magazine and the odd promotional disc from Game.

No one can touch Sony this time around, it's too late, now should be about building user bases and titles\developers for the next wave of hardware. With so many people Nintendo can guarantee sales based on their intellectual property titles like Mario, Pikmin etc the rest of us demand something more and if we don't get it then Nintendo will see that support dry up.

Which leaves my argument back at the start. The Gamecube is a great console with potential, titles like Pikmin 2, PN03, Soul Calibur 2 etc show that it can graphically hold it's own againt the others whilst offering unique games. The problem is not with the hardware, or the software, it's the people in charge that are killing Nintendo slowly.

The handheld markey, Nintendo's main success of recent years, is also another area where they are coming under threat. The N gage is no threat, IMO, but the PSP most definitely is as Sony's likely first wave of games will see it, again IMO, tap into the market Nintendo cannot, the same ones who made the PS2 successful. In Japan, Sony is likely to lauch the PSP with a new Final Fantasy game for the system, with the new Gamecube Final Fantasy looking to be less than appealing with it's focus on 4 player gaming, this PSP release is likely to tap into the disappointment around Chronicles earlier release.

Anyone who thinks Nintendo does not have a problem right now is either shortsighted or a dedicated Fanboy.
