I wrote a very long walkthrough recently (which hasnt been posted yet) and was looking through the latest walkthrough entries. Vhayste has blatantly copied and pasted about 6 walkthroughs. I know I cant really talk, but just double checking that copying and pasting a walkthrough is cheating. Can someone please confirm that he is?

I didn't see this thread if i had i would have posted this earlier.

originally i was going to let the staffies deal with this, but i think he has some cheek posting this thread when he has been ripping off other sites every time.

Nickgreens latest walkthrough has a fair amount of information copied and pasted from the offical site.

I did report it to the staffies but i guess they let him get away with it. Although personally i think if any of the walkthrough isn't yours it should be able to win.

Offical site

Check the bottom of his walkthrough and the bottom of the official page. there are parts stolen most of the way through it.

As for Vhayste he can't win anyway as he lives in the Philippines.

Yes, I agree. Now since you did mention that, now poses the another issue. What if someone takes/ poses as a writer's name, taking his screen name and then copying the author's work as his own to gain benefits? (Such as prizes)

Im afraid we have no ways to quickly identify if the person is the real one or the imposter; that could pose a problem to authors like us.

And another thing to note, I only write faqs and walkthroughs for games I LOVE the most and played the most. Even if its popular or not. Writing about something you know best helps a lot in making very comprehensive walkthroughs. I even encourage my readers to email me their questions.

Now, I do understand that you became suspicious about the identation and stuff. When I submitted these walkthroughs here in freeola, I dont have my original text files with me so, practically, I copied my OWN faqs in IGN. Of course no one wants that to happen specially if we really worked hard creating them.

And sir, let me clarify again; I'M NOT AFTER ANY PRIZE AT ALL. I remembered I was prompted to enter a UK based zip code in case I win. I don't even live here! I just googled a example UK zip just to register. I just wanted to register and for my works to reach more gamers worldwide. In any case I win (which I doubt) and its transferrable, I will humbly give it to anyone. Or even decline. Im not writing for money or prizes. I write because IM A GAMER, and I WANT TO.

Its just that Nickgreen has jumped into conclusions immediately and attacked an innocent fellow writer without even hearing my side.

I hope this clarifies it all, and thank you guys for bringing this up. I will be more cautious when posting to prevent this kind of incident from happening again.

To Nickgreen: I completely understand your side, bro but please do not jump into conclusions immediately. We are all hardworking people here and nobody wants our work to be stolen by any opportunist. And you know how bothersome it is to be accused of something that you didnt do.

Thanks people, I will be back once I finish my latest project.

Hence why i selectively choose which games to write walkthroughs for. I tend to go for those that no one seems to discuss, poorly done or is requested heavily. Typically those ones are a winner.

I would write more walkthroughs, but they take absolutely ages for me. Months in some cases. The ground control walkthough took nearly 5 months to complete and write up the assignment.

But please note copyright and intellectual property only protects the EXPRESSION of the work and not the idea itself. Of course theres that arguement of non literal copying going, but thats difficult to prove. Although theres that 3 step thing to identifing the elements and then investigating them. Plus the excemptions around.

Actually there was my idea of writing a walkthrough like a litriture review and making your own conclusions from the gather sources to devise your own solution or create a conclusion. Not sure that would be acceptable though.

I second that, though I agree that Walkthoughs are pretty hard to write without going over old ground from previous writers. There's only so many ways you can tell someone to go left in a cave!

Actually we're a bit jumpy on the topic of plagurism (especially if those entries win), namely most don't do it our selves nor do we actually read through every walkthrough ever. So its a bit difficult to regulate. But when we see traits of copying, we get very suspious. metaphorically, like here, we attempt to smite the wicked. I like to make sure before attempting to send my proveribal kill teams and spammen to do my bidding.

As a writer I know you can TELL how stuff are copied and pasted. And I humbly state my side that I did not copied or pasted anything. You know how hard it is to balance time for writing, work and playing. And how painful it is to have someone accusing you of cheating.

What raised peoples suspiousions was actually the seeming random indentations of the walkthroughs. Typically found in copied walkthroughs. Whilst you didn't do plagurism. you DID copy your own walkthrough from IGN.com (i won't tell how i got to find it from there as its a long story) and that actually causes the random indentation.

Thanks Spoonbeast.

These are my OWN works and COPIED AND PASTED THEM FROM MY OWN FAQS IN SUPERCHEATS.com, IGN.com, NEOSEEKER.com, CHEATHAPPENS.com to name a few.

Copying my own faqs is a crime? ANd besides, I uploaded all my faqs here at the same time because I was looking for a place to post them.

GAD? I dont care about it. I just want my works to reach as much gamers as possible. I am a freelance writer and I write my faqs as a hobby.

Spoonbeast: Sir, I do not mean anything offending to you, Im just explaining my side. If you find anything that I said is offending, please accept my humbles apologies... thanks.

Dude,

As a writer I know you can TELL how stuff are copied and pasted. And I humbly state my side that I did not copied or pasted anything. You know how hard it is to balance time for writing, work and playing. And how painful it is to have someone accusing you of cheating.

I don't really care why you are so blatantly impulsive but again please, Im not good in word fights and I can say I am man enough to decline in such worthless ramblings. If that's what you think, so be it. God knows what the truth is... IF you believe in Him, that is.

Good day to you Nick, and have a nice day. :)

Hello dude,

I DID NOT copied and pasted those faqs. I worked hard to manually compile those using my OWN game time and EFFORT. I dont know if you hate me personally or something but PLEASE do not accuse me of cheating.

COPYING AND PASTING????

ARE THE WORDS ON A SINGLE FAQ IS EXLUSIVE ONLY TO THE FIRST ONE THAT CREATED IT?

You need to be more considerate sir. I am writing because I want to; Its my hobby and Im doing that in real life.

Please people, do not push me into something that I DIDNT DO. God bless you, Nick.

0_o ooh crafty, but would/could someone really be that bothered to win £30 quid when you're not guaranteed to win? I spent bloomin ages checking like 20 lines of text from each walk through to make sure it wasn't ripped off from somewhere...should just wait for you guys to do it :D :)
