Now, before I start I'd just like to say that I am a PS2 owner so I am extremely biased in every possible way. This doesn't matter though.

I just the latest CVG (issue 239, October) and the cover feature is about the GameCube. How exciting. 10 whole pages dedicated to it. And I knew very little about Nintendo's new console so I read it and I am shocked by the overall shoddiness.

ATTENTION: ONLY CHILDREN UNDER 5 SHOULD BUY GAMECUBE!

Out of the twenty or so launch games, over half feature cutesy little animal characters and/or garish cartoony graphics. Pikmin? Super Monkey Ball? What the hell are they? They even made Zelda in to a cartoon! For a super powerful console, 2D graphics are not acceptable even if they ARE 3D but just look 2D.

And to make it even worse, hardly any of the games are original. There's the usual Mario/Luigi nonsense, Zelda, Star Fox, Bomberman (which I admit is cool), Fifa (obviously), Super Smash Bros and loads of other games which feature numbers at the end of their names. I'm not going to complain much because a lot of the best games on PS2 are sequels too.

And...oh god I can't even bear to say it...there's bound to be Pokemon. NO! Or, rather there will be Gamecube versions of Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Platinum, Titanium, Aluminium, Cardboard and MDF.

But that's the end of my little rant. If you really like cartoony characters running around doing puzzles and stuff then I hope you enjoy your new GameCube. I'll just be driving on GT3, shooting stuff in Red Faction, slaughtering zombies on Code Veronica and couting the days until Metal Gear Solid 2.

That's it...

dave search the entire of chat forums and find my posts, there are a few wastes of spaces but read them and you will see long in depth discussion on why your post is full of rubbish i have replied but in brief i could coy and past half the stuff i have already writen but i couldn't be bothered.

Most if my posts go on about how Nintendo aren't childish. Read them and you'll see my point. Shall i do the Pokemon example again?

To all the people who have come in here to have a go at me:

Er...freedom of speech people? Is that not what these forums are about? I commented on what I read and what I personally believe to be true. I admit I am biased and opinionated but if you don't have your own ideas then you're nothing but a mindless automaton.

If anyone has got a civilised response, I will take notice of it. I care not one jot about you or your opinions if you give them in an aggressive or insulting way.

I've heard people call it the Lamecube, which I think is unfair. The GC looks real good, but I'm even more excited about the Xbox.

I find it amusing that the original post starts by saying how biased the poster is!

Next up is that "2d graphics are not acceptable". Huh???? So many 3d games are still using 2d gameplay, and do not necesitate the need for the exptra dimension. The only reason they put it there is to make people like you, who think that 3d is a must, buy the game. This also adds to you idea that 2d is dead, thus fueling more companies to do the same, even though many 3d sequals to 2d games have failed.... dismally!

Sad when the industry has to cater for biased people like you.

Shut up, go away, or both. I'm getting a GC, and I don't think I'm a baby. In fact I think the reverse, that YOU are, for posting such a biased opinionated post, without actually giving both points of few. Well Kid, as console wars go, this post was pretty flawed.

You simply dismissed a first class console a babies toy simply because it has cartoony graphics.

People normally grow out of that stereotyping by the time they are 12.

You'll find that most Gamecube games are original (Smash Brothers admittedly not being one of them), but Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion (yes, old character but completely new style of game), Monkey Ball...

Full of ideas and originality that many gamers want.

As for Zelda.

It might look 2D in the screen shots, but see it in action and you'll see the smoothest game animation you've ever seen.

Sure, you might think PS2 is better which is fine for your opinion, and it's fair enough that you want make out its better than its opponents (everyone does it), but remember to get your facts right next time.
