I just the latest CVG (issue 239, October) and the cover feature is about the GameCube. How exciting. 10 whole pages dedicated to it. And I knew very little about Nintendo's new console so I read it and I am shocked by the overall shoddiness.
ATTENTION: ONLY CHILDREN UNDER 5 SHOULD BUY GAMECUBE!
Out of the twenty or so launch games, over half feature cutesy little animal characters and/or garish cartoony graphics. Pikmin? Super Monkey Ball? What the hell are they? They even made Zelda in to a cartoon! For a super powerful console, 2D graphics are not acceptable even if they ARE 3D but just look 2D.
And to make it even worse, hardly any of the games are original. There's the usual Mario/Luigi nonsense, Zelda, Star Fox, Bomberman (which I admit is cool), Fifa (obviously), Super Smash Bros and loads of other games which feature numbers at the end of their names. I'm not going to complain much because a lot of the best games on PS2 are sequels too.
And...oh god I can't even bear to say it...there's bound to be Pokemon. NO! Or, rather there will be Gamecube versions of Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Platinum, Titanium, Aluminium, Cardboard and MDF.
But that's the end of my little rant. If you really like cartoony characters running around doing puzzles and stuff then I hope you enjoy your new GameCube. I'll just be driving on GT3, shooting stuff in Red Faction, slaughtering zombies on Code Veronica and couting the days until Metal Gear Solid 2.
That's it...

I blame wizards of the coast for that rather than Nintendo.
The Pokemon example.
Ignore the Graphics and you have animals, hitting, stabbing, kicking, freezing, burning, bloeing up and shooting eachother.
Sounds like an adult blood sport game that should be banned add cute graphics and wow it isn't only legal game but for children aswell!!!
Do you judge on graphics? Conker is cute like MArio is that a kids game?

They are a company, companies make profits. Any way, it's not the children's money, it's the parent's. If the parent's are willing for their children to buy the cards, then why stop them?

Not you personally!

Errr...rich parents?
Your just jealous of

Plenty of people make a lot of money from different ways. I just don't like the way Nintendo have gone about it with Pokemon. Shameless...

I'm honestly not asking you to agree. It's fine to have your own opinions, but i'm not too keen on people slagging me off and trying to start an argument.

Shoddiness in the magazine. CVG seem to rather like "toilet" humor.

Under 5's????? How many children will be able to afford a £150 console? Also some nintendo games may look "cartoony" but they are designed to appeal to people of all ages. A violent game is only suitable for older gamers leaving out the massive market of younger kids. You are obviously one of those people who believe looks are everything. Well thats basicly wrong. Its really gameplay that counts.

I am personally not sure about zelda but they wanted to try somthing different.

The PS2 PS and PSone have WAY more sequals than the N64 and GC. Your just jealous of the money nintendo made from pokemon.
But that's the end of my little rant.

There are gonna be some gooooooood games on the GC, Plenaty of gore etc. GAmes for everyone.

We too have got Freedom of Speech, and we are using this basic right in disagreeing with you. Of course you are allowed your own opinion, but that doesn't mean we all have to agree with it.
